Rob Liefeld has served as one of Marvel’s best comic book artists to date, bringing his genius creative imagination to his works like nothing ever seen before. For one, the comic book creator has been credited for giving birth to one of the best and most entertaining characters in the respective super-verse till now, who is currently winning big bucks for the MCU: Deadpool.

Rob Liefeld.

But as popular as he has become for his iconic works, it appears that Liefeld is done with Marvel, once and for all. This comes after his recent announcement that his last comic book for the respective character will be out next week, and that’s it. And, as heartbreaking as it may seem, all of this is only for the better after considering Kevin Feige and Disney’s alleged horrible treatment of him.

For more than 30 years now, since the early 1990s, mastermindRob Liefeldhas been working as a prominent writer cum comic book artist for Marvel and has pulled off some really epic storylines throughout his tenure as well. But his genius won’t be pushing out any more star-studded pieces, as he recently announced himself.

Taking to his X handle@robertliefeld, the comic book creator shared the same news with fans as he wrote:

“Oh man, that last shot is BAD”: Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Rips Into the Most Controversial Scene in James Gunn’s Superman

TheDeadpool Team-Upseries, which has been going on since August 2024 and had the Merc with a Mouth being assisted by multiple of his friends and frenemies, will reportedly be having its fifth issue released this coming week on June 19, 2025, and that would ostensibly be the last one for the super-verse from the 57-year-old Liefeld.

However, this decision isn’t anything new for the brainbox. As it turns out, his choosing to decline the company’s job offers to him and leaving after the fifth (and, perhaps, final) issue ofDTUstems from a series of past allegations that he levied against studios prezKevin Feigeand Disney about not being treated well by them.

Rob Liefeld was reportedly not treated well by Marvel and Disney

Over the years, there have been reports of how the genius brains behind masterpieces like the comic book worlds created do not get treated well and fail to receive significant recognition from the studios for their works. Marvel and Disney seem to be yet another assaulters on the list, perthe allegations by Rob Liefeld against them.

For one, there was theDeadpool & WolverineNew York premiere incident in July, where Liefeld claims he had posed for photos with creatives on the flick’s team but was later told by his publicist that those photos were deleted. Soon after the premiere, he settled on the decision to cut ties with the studios, believing that they no longer wanted him around.

Taking to his podcastRobservations, he said about this decision, “At some point, you go, ‘I’ve received the message, and the message is clear.’” Then there was the fact that he and his family weren’t invited to the afterparty either, of which he said, “It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me.” Of Feige, he even said on his podcast:

Kevin Feige does not treat comic book creators well. That is my personal experience.

This also comes in the wake of his asking to receive a special credit onDeadpool & Wolverineand inquiring what else perks might be offered to him with respect to access to movie premieres and other promotional opportunities rather than more money.

However, instead of receiving a response for the same, his agents at Verve reportedly told him that the message was not received well inside the studios. But he was given the standard “Deadpool created by” credit at the end of the billionaire blockbuster along withFabian Nicieza, who has co-worked on the character as well.

That’s not all: The masterpiece’s signature scene — where the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine battle the dozens of Deadpool Corps — takes place in front of a store called Liefeld’sJust Feet, which stemmed from an inside joke about the artist, who fans believe does not draw feet. He was also invited to visit the set in London.

Nonetheless, Rob Liefeld still seems to hold quite a few grudges with Marvel and Disney over their alleged treatment of him, for, when asked to comment on the topic byThe Hollywood Reporter, his candid response was, “Do I think he can improve his relationship with comic creators? Yes.” So that sounds like something he would have to work on.

Besides this, it doesn’t sound like anything could hold Liefeld back with Marvel anymore, for he even claimed Feige was near him on the red carpet at the premiere but did not acknowledge him. If anything, he has decided to sever ties with the publisher for whom he created renowned characters once and for all, and that’s a decision he might as well not turn back on.
