Capcom’s next installment in theResident Evilfranchise is yet to be officially revealed, and the long patient wait is still going on.
Meanwhile, rumors and leaks have been filling in the gaps until we receive any form of official announcement.

The last Resident Evil was Resident Evil 4, launched in 2023, while the last new entry was Resident Evil Village, released in 2021.
So, it has been quite some time since the release of a new Resident Evil game, or at least news and updates regarding one.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Has Sold Over 9 Million Units Worldwide
Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil 4 remake has now sold over nine million units globally.
Recently, Dusk Golem, a credible insider, shared some new info regarding the next entry, which is rumored to be called Resident Evil 9.

According to him, Resident Evil 9 is going toreinvent the series, similar to how Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 changed the franchise significantly.
He suggests that this is the reason why Resident Evil 9’s development has been taking such a long time, and fans will understand that once the game is fully revealed. On platform X, he said the following:

Potential Official Reveal Possible This Year
Resident Evil 4andResident Evil 7both significantly changed the series, specifically when it came to combat and camera perspectives.
How this new game will shift the formula again is anybody’s guess at this point. Nevertheless, it’s safe to assume that after such a long time, Resident Evil 9 is definitely going to be very ambitious.

If Dusk Golem is to be believed, then we should finally get an official look at Resident Evil 9 this year. Maybe during summer events or perhaps an exclusive Capcom digital direct.
Previous rumors stated that Resident Evil 9 would feature Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine as dual protagonists. But it’s possible things changed during the development.
It’s also worth mentioning that this year, we might see the official reveal of Resident Evil 5 remaster or remake, which has been the highlight of recent rumors a couple of times. Another rumored project in the series is Resident Evil Zero Remake.
Like always, try to take these leaks and rumors with a grain of salt. Sooner or later, we will receive official word from Capcom regarding the future of the Resident Evil series.
