The 43rd week of the year has come and gone and surprising absolutely no one,Red Dead Redemption 2has taken hold of the top spot on the UK sales chart for the week.
Red Dead Redemption 2hasn’t just now surpassedCall of Duty: Black Ops 4for the number one position, it also debuts as Rockstar’s strongest release of this console generation. That’s unsurprising considering their only other major release,Grand Theft Auto V, was previously on Xbox 360 and PS3. Additionally, 68% of copies bought forRed Dead Redemption 2were purchased on PS4.
According toGamesIndustry.biz,Red Dead Redemption 2is also now the second fastest-selling game of the year in the UK losing out to onlyFIFA 19. It has also become the third-fastest selling non-FIFA game to release this generation only coming in behindCall of Duty: Advanced WarfareandCall of Duty: Black Ops III. With these numbers in mind, I’m really interested in seeing how it performed here in the United States.
As for other entries on the list this week,Black Ops 4andFIFA 19each moved down one spot to second and third respectively.Forza Horizon 4actually found itself jumping up one spot this week into fourth whileAssassin’s Creed Odysseydropped down to the number 5 spot.
