It appears that there is an issue with thePlayStationNetwork for a select amount of people, as numerous users are reporting and sharing screenshots of the exact same error message. It would seem that, due to a problem in the network, when some players attempt to boot up their games, they get a message telling them that they cannot use that content, as the console “can’t connect to the server to verify your license.“RELATED:PlayStation Services Will Remain Operational In Turkey Despite Recent Closures By SonyThough it’s possible for the problem to be related to a handful of specific games, users have been uploading numerous screenshots, which show that they tried playing several different titles, yet they get the same message with all of them. Furthermore, a lot of these posts have replies from people saying they’re experiencing the exact same problem.
The timing is particularly unfortunate, as it’s the launch day forHogwarts Legacy’s early access period. One user evenlamentedhow they got kicked out of the game in the middle of a combat sequence. Hogwarts Legacy, despite officially releasing on February 10, can be played as of today for those who purchase the game’s deluxe edition at $79.99.
If this is a problem that PlayStation can’t get patched up soon, then they can probably expect a good amount of backlash to be heading its way. After all, the 3-day early access was arguably the main selling point for the Deluxe Edition, so the players could end up missing out on what they paid the extra money for.
Some affected users arecriticizingthe fact that a network issue can hinder them from playing a single-player game in the first place. Others speculate that this may be PlayStation cracking down on game sharing. Numerous players that claimed to be getting the error message, also admitted to having shared games with other PlayStation users. This is, of course, purely speculation, and we’ll only know for sure if and when PlayStation makes some official statement about the matter.
