The biggest use for Coal is its use in creating Refined Ingots, which will be an essential ingredient in crafting weapons like the Assault Rifle and Rocket Launcher. These are all incredibly useful and you will want to have a good supply of Coal coming into your camp, by any means. So to help you ensure that this will be the case, this guide is here to help you get all the Coal you could ever wish for.

How To Get Coal
The easiest place to find Coal out in the game’s world is by heading to the desert region that is near the center of the map. It is close to the Anubis boss fight, and in this area, you’re able to find an abundance of large, black rock deposits; this is the Coal. Be sure that you have some heat-resistant armor equipped to help compensate with the immense heat in the area. You can use the Tropical Outift, which can be crafted once you have reached Technology Level 9. To craft this outfit, you will need to find two Flame Organs and 3 Cloth. Then you can craft them at your Workbench to take into the desert.
You are going to need a strong enough pickaxe to get the job done, so be sure you have at least the Metal Pickaxe. Also make sure that the pickaxe is repaired to its fully health so that you aren’t left with a broken one too soon. You will also need a good amount of inventory space because Coal is heavy, and can easily overwhelm your character’s weight limit. And being left in the desert with your pockets full, unable to move, is going to prove to be a very frustrating experience.

It is also possible to loot some Coal off of specific Pals:BlazamutandMenasting. These two Pals have a chance of dropping Coal when you either defeat or capture them, but this is not guaranteed, and for efficiency’s sake, you are much better off going to the desert to mine it.
