The following day, Overwatch uploaded the trailer below, which showcased most of Lifeweaver’s abilities and confirmed that the character, as well the game’s upcoming season, will drop on April 11.

Lifeweaver is described as an “intelligent and curious adventurer who plans to use his biolight technology to make the world a better place.” His abilities are all themed around plants in one way or another, but, in terms of gameplay, they are mostly designed around letting Lifeweaver be able to manipulate positioning, all while providing heals for his teammates.

His standard fire, called Healing Blossom, is a targeted healing projectile that Lifeweaver can hold to charge for a stronger heal. His Rejuvenating Dash ability is seen quite a lot in the trailer. It’s a simple but effective dash that helps Lifeweaver stay mobile in a hectic fight.

It also helps him stay alive, for it provides him with “a small burst of passive healing.” This is in an effort to make Lifeweaver have more survivability, which makes sense, given that he’s visibly much larger than many of the game’s other support characters.

Life Grip is like Roadhog’s Chain Hook but for teammates. When aimed at an ally, it pulls them close to Lifeweaver and gives them some shield health. Petal Platform is a large flower that rises up when someone steps on it, raising them along with it, whether they be teammates or enemies.

Thorn Volley is Lifeweaver’s alternate fire, which damages opponents with a rapid burst of thorns. And finally, his Ultimate ability is Tree of Life, which can not only block chokepoints and enemy sightlines but also passively heals any ally that’s close to it.
