When reviewing all the Damage-type characters inOverwatch 2, one of the most challenging to play is Hanzo. His moves are slower than most and require a high degree of precision,making him less suited for beginner players than some other picks. But when you do land a well-placed shot, it can be one of the most powerful in the game.

Hanzo plays like a mid-range sniper class with some minor support elements. While he can get quickly overwhelmed at close range, his Ultimate, Dragonstrike, has the potential to wreak havoc on multiple foes or even an entire team in one shot. If you are willing to put in the time to master Hanzo, you will be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Here are some of the most important tips and tricks to help you get started with (and ultimately master) the character.
8Start With Practice
In general, it is a good idea to run through the practice mode when playing a new character. Not only will this help you get comfortable with their abilities, but it will help you determine whether they are the right character for you or not.
Hanzo is one of the more difficult players to master, and can be a tough place to start if you are just getting into the game. Where he really thrives is with precision headshots. Take some time to get the feel of the Storm Bow in the target range before heading into your first match.
7Understand Your Range
Getting comfortable with your bow’s range finder is critical for you getting the perfect shot no matter how far away you are. Although it is a bow and not a gun, you can be incredibly lethal with a single well-placed shot. When looking at the aiming reticle, you’ll notice three sets of lines: the top is close-range, and then the mid-range and long-range lines sit below it.

While it is possible to get a headshot at any range, Hanzo thrives when in close to mid-range of his target. Body shots can do a fair amount of damage, but in order to really succeed as Hanzo, you should always aim for the head.attempt to get used to doing so against different-sized targets.
6Take Cover Often
Although he is apowerful Damage character, Hanzo does not have the greatest defense and moves relatively slowly around the battlefield. Make sure to take cover when possible to avoid excessive damage as you fire shots at the enemy.
Doing so will also allow you to readjust your aim so that when you pop back out of cover, you can get that perfect headshot. When possible, avoid staying in the same area for too long as you could be unexpectedly flanked by the enemy.
5Get The High Ground
Hanzo’s Lunge and Wall Climb abilities can help you get to hard-to-reach places, giving you an advantage over the battlefield. It can also give you a great opportunity to lay down a well-placed Sonic Arrow revealing the enemy’s location for you and your team.
Adopting this approach can help you understand where the enemy team is coming from and set you up for some nice stealth kills. Just be sure to not stray too far from your team, as it’s critical to try and avoid getting into a firefight alone wherever you’re able to.
4Be Tactical
Going up against another player one-on-one can be tough, especially when they are particularly quick or have high defense (a tricky Tank like Winston, for instance). Your main attack is relatively slow, and you don’t want to find yourself frantically aiming for body shots as you are getting taken down.

To avoid this, try staying unseen as much as possible. You can always circle around behind the combat zone and pick off the enemy while they are focused elsewhere. Or you can stay hidden just inside the doorway of a building and take some well-placed shots before the enemy realizes you are there. If you find yourself in the middle of a combat zone, make sure you are staying within friendly shields and trying to maintain whatever cover you can. As an important rule of thumb, remember that a couple of well-aimed shots are better than a flurry of poor ones.
3Know When To Use Your Storm Arrows
This ability will allow you to fire off five quick shots with reduced damage. While it is your weakest attack (per arrow), it is also your fastest and can be very useful when you find yourself in a close-range battle. When the enemy is rushing you, quickly sinking all five shots into them can make all the difference in who comes out on top.
This skill can also be useful at a longer range, especially when used to finish off the rest of the enemy’s health as they run away. attempt to avoid using it as your first attack, though, as it’s difficult to take the best advantage of that way.
2Save your Ultimate
Nothing is worse than getting your Ultimate, firing it off, and watching the enemy team move out of the way. Since Hanzo’s Dragonstrike is powerful but moves in a straight line, saving it for just the right moment can make the difference in getting a kill, or several.
attempt to use it when the enemy team is gathered in a more narrow spot, or are all concentrated around a capture point. This move can be especially effective if you have circled around behind them or when fired through a wall, as they won’t see it coming. Time this just right, and you can wipe out an entire team. At the same time, though, as the game’s own tooltips remind players: Don’t forsake a good opportunity to use it because you’re awaiting the perfect one, as you may never get it.
1Be Patient
Although Hanzo is a tough character to just pick up and perform with, putting in the time and learning from each round is well worth it. There is nothing quite like getting the perfect headshot or a well-earned combo kill. If you are having a tough time getting kills in PvP, don’t be afraid to return to the target range and take on some AI enemies to dial in your aim and refine your strategy. Eventually, you will be able to get those headshots intuitively and will dominate the battlefield.
