Having been out since the end of last year, Google Stadia has been building steadily (but unevenly) on the promise of its ability to stream games to a number of devices. Alongside a number of titles from third-party developers and publishers, Google has also been getting its own exclusives to call Stadia their home, withOrcs Must Die! 3marking the latest Google Stadia exclusive that you can play right now.
During itsStadia Connect presentation, Google announced thatOrcs Must Die! 3has officially launched today on the streaming platform, allowing players on Stadia to once again fend off massive waves of orcs with different weapons and traps.Originally announced last year,Orcs Must Die! 3marks the return of the cult classic tower defense series after it was last seen inOrcs Must Die! Unchained, a free-to-play iteration that launched in 2017 on PS4 and PC (and was shut down in 2019).
The game can be purchased for $29.99 on Google Stadia, but is alsoavailable to play free for Stadia Pro members, the platform’s premium membership subscription. At the moment,Orcs Must Die! 3is an exclusive title to Google Stadia, but is timed exclusive and could appear on other platforms at a later date (it’s unclear just yet how long the exclusivity window for the game is).
With the game’s launch today, our own staff writer Josh Starr reviewedOMD3and gave it a score of 7.0/10.0. As a longtime fan of the series, Josh felt that while the game is enjoyable and a welcome return for the series,OMD3isn’t a huge overhaul from its predecessorOrcs Must Die! 2. He also noted that as a Stadia exclusive,OMD3is also bearing the brunt of Stadia’s weaknesses, such as lag or problems from an inconsistent internet connection, sometimes uneven visual fidelity, and a confusing voice chat system. That said, those looking for an enjoyable tower defense series should still find a lot to like fromOMD3, andyou can read Josh’s full review right here.
