Nothing is a coincidence when it comes toOne Pieceand foreshadowing, as Eiichiro Oda made sure of it with the multiple revelations and plot twists that were hinted at long back in the most subtle ways possible. The fanbase is always thinking about possible theories that could come true in the future, no matter how outlandish they sound. It’s actually hard not to, when there are so many unanswered mysteries but this theory about Red-Haired Shanks stands out.

Shanks meets with the Five Elders in One Piece.

The Emperor is known to be quite the enigma. It’s questionable if he’s a true ally to Luffy or someone working with the World Government in secret. His meeting with the Five Elders suggested the latter but what if Shanks isn’t an only child?

It came as a shock to everyone that he cooperated and warned the Five Elders about an unnamed pirate that would be a great threat to the World Government. While the pirate is most likely Blackbeard, the possibility that he meant Luffy makes fans believe he could be a traitor. However, his out-of-character behavior can be explained if his alleged father, Figarland Garling, actually had twins.

Shanks Has A Twin That’s Sabotaging The Red-Hair Pirates

Shanks has two very distinct features that make it easy to recognize that it’s indeed the Red-Haired Emperor and not an imposter: his scar and missing arm. However, inthe meeting with Five Elders, the manga and anime don’t show the left side of his face with the scar and the huge cloak hides any semblance of a missing arm. Usually, his face isn’t hidden in the anime, especially when Toei loves to jump between multiple angles to stretch out the episode. This time, however, it was deliberately focusing on his right side and wasn’t a drawing error.

One Piece: Eiichiro Oda’s Massive Shanks Revelation Seemingly Confirms He’s the Aizen of this Story

The next hint isa theory within a theory. Although Shanks’ biological heritage hasn’t been confirmed, many were shocked to see Figarland Garling in his youth as he looked strikingly similar to Shanks. There’s always a possibility the Emperor is a Celestial Dragon, speculating he must’ve run away duringthe God Valley Incident.

The Celestial Dragon’s name also suggests a twin was born alongside Shanks. The first part of his name, Fig, might be a reference to the Roman mythological twins, Romulus and Remus, who were born under a Fig tree. Moreover, Roman Kings wear garlands and a Celestial Dragon is as close to a king as it gets.

The twin theory might be a bit farfetched with just a name but not when you see the silhouette of a mysterious figure in Chapter 1121 holding a saber and looking suspiciously like Shanks. Considering the Emperor was already in the panel, it’s someone entirely different and yet to be revealed.

Who Is This Mysterious Figure from Chapter 1121?

The panel in Chapter 1121 shows Vegapunk revealing the fate of the world depends on who finds the titular legendary treasures. The various characters who are top candidates in finding the One Piece are the Four Emperors, Akainu, Koby, Imu, Aokiji, Sabo, Monkey D. Dragon, Figarland Garling, and the mysterious figure. Who is this person holding a saber?

Many fans theorize the mysterious swordsman is Gol D. Roger’s clone. Since this is unlikely, it could also be the Man Marked By Flames that Kid referred to who is the key to finding the One Piece. There’s too little information on these two mysterious figures but it’s plausible it’sthe Man Marked By Flamessince he has something to do with the treasure. Still, his appearance is too similar to Shanks to not be related to him.
