The Netflix season doesn’t go out of its way to explain the origin of Baroque Works, making the scene a bit confusing for viewers unfamiliar with the One Piece franchise.
Is Baroque Works Important?
Baroque Works is an important organization in the world of One Piece that plays a major role in the next overarching arc of the show, known asthe Arabasta Kingdom arc. It will most likely be adapted in theseason two of the Netflix show.
The organization’s origins are within the Grand Line, and that’s where they will appear again in the show.

Origin Of Baroque Works
Baroque Works is a secret organization founded by Crocodile, a Warlord under the employment of the World Government. The purpose of Baroque Works is to take over the Arabasta Kingdom in the Grand Line. Crocodile is a major antagonist in the anime and manga and one of the only people who actually beat Luffy.
The organization has a hierarchical numbering system, with Number 1 being the highest. The members of Baroque Works aren’t necessarily all evil, but they aren’t exactly the kindest people around either. Several of the major players in the organization become recurring characters, such asMiss Sunday, Robin’s alter ego, or Miss Wednesday, Nefertari Vivi.

Who Is Mr. 7?
Mr. 7 is one of the core members of Baroque Works, being considered a Frontier Agent with some power in the organization. In the anime, Mr. 7 is an eccentric sniper who operates alongside Miss Father’s Day. However, the Mr. 7 we see in the Live Action is different.
According to the anime, Zoro encountered Mr. 7 of Baroque Works, who tried to recruit him. Instead of entertaining his recruitment offer, Zoro said he’d join the organization if they let him be the boss and proceeded to dispatch the criminal. However, this happened off-screen, making the appearance of Mr. 7 with Zoro a Live-Action original scene. Though their fight isn’t as exciting or interesting as theZoro vs. Mr. 1 fight, it’s at least something forfans of the boneheaded swordsman.
