Even though it has been years, the Marineford arc inOne Pieceis still considered one of the greatest plots ever created in the history of anime. The storyline had everything and took fans through an emotional rollercoaster that has been embedded in their minds forever. However, there was still one character who could have made the arc even more legendary.

Marineford Arc

The character is none other than Kaido, the Governor General of the Beast Pirates and the Strongest Creature in the entireOne Pieceworld. When the Paramount War of Marineford started, it was revealed that Kaido was also on his way to fight Whitebeard, but he was somehow stopped by Red-Haired Shanks, who later reached Marineford himself.

ManyOne Piecefans believe that Shanks robbed them of a legendary fight between the Strongest Creature and the Strongest Man in the world. If Kaido had been at Marineford, maybe the end result of the war would have been different, but the one thing that is certain is that the story would have been even more thrilling.

Kaido’s Reason For Coming To Marineford

The Marineford arc was a combination of almost every kind of emotion that a fan can experience. From Luffy’s entry into the war to Ace’s death, every episode brought a new kind of thrill that made the arc one of the greatest narratives of all time. But there were some missing pieces that fans found out about later in the story.

The first and most important one was Kaido, who was on his way to attack Whitebeard and stop him from rescuing Ace. While no one knows the reason behind it, the major speculation is that Kaido wanted a warrior’s death, and there are only a few characters in the serieswho could have given it to him.

And Whitebeard was at the top of that list. Thus, Kaido decided to battle Whitebeard and took his right-hand man, King, along with him. But during his journey, he was confronted by Shanks, who decided to stop him on his way and even succeeded. However, the duel between the two was never discussed byEiichiro Odain the series.

Shanks is Blamed For Robbing a Major Fight

When Shanks entered Marineford, the characters inOne PieceandOne Piecefans were shocked to see him unscathed. This was because it was reported that he was fighting the strongest creature in theOne Pieceworld, and he didn’t even have a scratch.

However, another issue that fans had with Shanks’ appearance at Marineford was that itconfirmed that he forced Kaido back to Wano.

Thus, there was no way that Kaido was going to reach Marineford and wreak havoc on the already torn battlefield. If Kaido had reached Marineford and he had seen Whitebeard dead, he surely would have taken a fight with the Marines or the Warlords to compensate for Whitebeard.

Although it would not have been as entertaining as seeing Whitebeard and Kaido fight, it still would have introduced a new kind of thrill to the already-peak storyline. It would have officially been declared as the greatestOne Piecefight of all time.
