Within the anime and manga industry, the one character that has stood on a pedestal for the longest time is Itachi Uchiha from Masashi Kishimoto’sNaruto. There are very few characters in the community who could stand up to the level of Itachi, and those who tried have failed miserably. However, there are some fanbases who feel like their favorite character has some similarity with Itachi’s personality.

Itachi Uchiha

One such character is Gin Ichimaru from Tite Kubo’sBleach.Gin was the captain of the 3rd Division of the Gotei 13 and an anti-hero character who became quite popular within the fanbase. Gin initially portrayed himself as a villain who sided with Sosuke Aizen in the story but later revealed that he was only in cahoots with the villain so that he could kill him.

While this may sound a little bit similar to Itachi’s narrative inNaruto,Bleachfans need to understand that Gin had nothing in common with the legend. In fact, Gin’s character was not even written perfectly by Kubo, which led to his quick downfall in theBleachnarrative.

Gin Ichimaru’s Anti-Hero Character inBleach

Gin was shown as an enigmatic figure with a sarcastic demeanor and a cruel smile from the start ofBleach. This was a major hint byTite Kubo, who wanted to establish that Gin was actually the rotten apple within the Soul Society. His plan worked, as fans immediately started doubting Gin’s character and believed him to be a villain.

Ultimately, when Gin was seen killing Sosuke Aizen and then later on joining him in his endeavors, it did not shock fans at all. However, Gin’s character took a turn when Kubo introduced the twist of his revenge within theBleachnarrative. It was revealed that Gin was actually in love with Rangiku Matsumoto, the lieutenant of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13.

When the two were kids, Aizen stole some essence from Rangiku for his Hogyoku, and it was all witnessed by Gin. Thus, with the feeling of love and revenge,Gin concocted the plan to kill Sosuke Aizenby winning his trust and becoming his right-hand man inBleach. However, Gin underestimated Aizen, as he was not able to defeat Gin but also kill him.

Gin’s Comparison To Itachi is Absurd

Bleachfans have compared Itachi and Gin for the longest time only because of the misjudgment aspect in their respective narratives. Both Itachi and Gin were believed to be ruthless villains who later on revealed their true intentions and fought the main villains. But the similarity between the two characters ends with this aspect.

Aside from this, there is nothing similar between the two characters. In Itachi’s case, his actions were motivated by the interests of his village and to protect it from imminent danger.

He chose to give up every aspect of his life, including his parents, solely for the betterment of the village. That is why his legacy became immortal in theNarutostoryline. He went on to become one of the greatest characters in the history of anime.

But in the case of Gin, his actions were motivated by revenge on the character who harmed the person he loved. He spent hisentire life trying to avenge Rangikuand finally, when he got the chance, he failed miserably and was ultimately killed. Kubo didn’t give him any room to grow at all, which is why his character was eventually forgotten, even by Rangiku, who was supposed to be the oneBleachcharacter to carry forward his legacy.
