Star Wars has been taking it slow for the past few years, staving off a big theatrical release in favor of telling stories on the small screen, via shows likeAhsoka,The Mandalorian, andThe Bad Batch. a slew ofStar Warsvideo games has been able to hype up fans too, introducing new characters like Cal Kestis, who fans hope will make his live-action debut soon.

However, while Cal Kestis’ appearance in a live-action property might take some time, there are plenty of references in each show, film, and animated series that tie all these corners of the Star Wars universe together. While a lot of fans expected him to show up inThe Mandalorian, it seems that the character has had a sneaky connection with another beloved Star Wars show all along

Cal Kestis connects directly toAhsoka

InAhsokaSeason 1 Episode 6, we find our protagonists on Peridea, our first look at a galaxy outside of the main one inStar WarsCanon (ever since Legends was declared to be non-canon).

Here, one of the details that have become vital to a host of speculation is the Zeffo writing that has been spotted in the episode, which confirms that Kujet the Zeffo came to Peridea with some of his people. Kujet was famously the Zeffo who embraced the Dark Side, which allegedly led to the extinction of his people.

This important detail also connectsAhsokadirectly to what has been happening in theStar Wars: Jedivideo game series. Planet Zeffo made an appearance inStar WarsJedi: Fallen Order, as a playable planet that is devoid of Zeffonians.

However, given that Ahsoka made a big deal about the planet Peridea having some sort of power source, the Dathormir and Baylan Skoll may have been sensing Kujet’s descendants all along, who have isolated and honed themselves using the Dark side of the Force.

Star Warsmight be going through a shift on the big screen

Star Wars has had a pretty rocky few years in the recent past, with no big theatrical release announced for the franchise since 2018’sRise of Skywalkerclosed out. However, there are multiple films in the works, such as ones byThe Last JedidirectorRian Johnson,Thor: RagnarokalumTaika Waititi, and even one from Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige.

However, this was way before the course correction that Disney embarked on in the recent few months, which means it is a given that not all of these projects will see the light of day. It is more likely that just like the MCU,Disney will look to reign in the contentthat is being put out for the Star Wars universe, perhaps the focus will shift towards the most successful part of the IP i.e. the part of the universe under Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.

It is safe to assume that once this corner of the IP has been satisfactorily wrapped up,Star Warswill then move on from the Skywalker Saga for good. But until then,Star Warswill probably take its time with the course correction that Disney will impose on it.
