Nintendosleuths have discovered a job page on LinkedIn that claims a strategy RPG for the Switch 2 is in development, one that may be tied to an existing first-party franchise, as it’s said to be a sequel.

Now thatDonkey Kong Bananzaisavailable to the public, the Nintendo Switch 2 library is looking bare, at least when it comes to first-party titles. There are some exciting cross-gen titles coming, but right now, there aren’t too many reasons to go out and buy a Switch 2, outside of pure FOMO.

Did you think you’d heard the last of drift with the launch of the Switch 2? It seems Nintendo might’ve had other ideas.

Users on the Gaming Leaks and Rumors Reddit stumbled upon a LinkedIn page for a person namedTakeshi Maruyama, who is a 3D Character Model artist with a history that includes working for Sega and Nintendo. Their most recent job role was working for Nintendo from January to April 2025, as a 3D Character Modeler on “the sequel of Nintendo’s SRPG (Tactical role-playing game) for the Switch 2.”

What Is The Mysterious SRPG Sequel?

Assuming the user and the post is legit, then there a handful of possibilities. Ruling out brand-new franchises (as it’s a sequel), then the most likely answer is that the game belongs to theFire Emblemor Advance Wars franchises.

The problem with either of those games is that they’re bothdeveloped by Intelligent Systems, with Nintendo acting as the publisher. It’s possible that Nintendo has brought on additional freelancers to help with the projects as needed.

The fact that the game is described as a “sequel” could be an incorrect translation. It’s more likely that the game would bepart of a larger series, rather than a direct sequel to an existing title.

There are rumors circulating of aNintendo Direct happening in July. If they’re true, then this game will likely be announced there, solving the mystery of the Switch 2’s next SRPG.
