Call of Dutyhas been around for the past few years and each entry featured multiplayer modes that grew and evolved. The competitive nature of the multiplayer lobbies is the lifeblood of the franchise and developers got creative by adding mechanics for killstreaks.

The players will have to work hard to earn the DNA bomb in the latest season of Call of Duty.

The latest entryModern Warfare 3will be receiving a significant overhaul for the killstreak reward. Instead of dropping a nuke above the heads of enemy players, it will be replaced by something called the DNA Bomb which is the substitute for the nuke and players aren’t happy.

The Nuke Is About to Be Replaced in Call of Duty Multiplayer

The developers are doing an impressive amount of work to keep the multiplayer aspect of the franchise interesting by adding new features and mechanics. However, not all of these ideas are well-received and some are suggesting this isa desperate attempt to output as much content to get the hype train moving for the following titlethat will be released later this year.

The DNA Bomb streak will replace the Nuke streak in MW3 MP with Season 4.

Call of Duty fans are not happy with this major deviation from tradition.

Killstreak rewards were meant to spice up the gameplay experience and reward outstanding players who performed well by giving them the advantage to rain down hellfire on the field and destroy their enemies. Unfortunately, the DNA bomb will not be a proper replacement for the nuke. It will not end matches unlike the nuke and only requires 25 eliminations without being killed.

Competitive players will not have the same motivation as they used to have from previous seasons. Acquiring the nuke could instantly end the match and send the players back into the lobby as they queue for another. The DNA bomb is not a great sales pitch for the upcoming season and most of the players are not a fan of it already.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 4 Could Be Good

It is unfair to judge the upcoming season and the new Killstreak reward without it having been released yet. Players can form opinions about something when it is available but this does show the developers are actively stepping away from what made the multiplayer great.

Perhaps the players will also begin to noticethe drastic decline in quality with the single-player story content. The campaigns of modern entries are nowhere near the level of epicness from older games and it is evident that the developers are losing their edge for multiplayer as well.

Fans are on the fence about the zombie content for the next season after recent leaks that are described to be ambitious. It could help draw older players back into the game and try out new content that the developers have to offer.

Change is inevitable but tampering with a 15-year old tradition is where many draw the line. The nuke has been part of the multiplayer feature of this franchise for too long to be replaced and most of the players grew to enjoy it which would make sense for them to give the DNA bomb a chance.
