Ubusuna, the latest work from Hiroshi Iuchi – the creator of Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun – has receiveda soundtrack sample videoalong with a translated story prologue. An exclusivereport by 4gameralso provides visuals of redesigned ship models following an internal designer change and contains a message by the creator for the fans.
According to the translated prologue in the soundtrack video, the story will occur in Genhō-no-kuni, or Land of the Mythical Bird (厳鳳ノ国). It is a peaceful land that has worshiped the divine bird Hou since time immemorial and has been under aggressions from its neighbors for the past eight years. The attacks would be revealed later to be instigated by Genhō’s own military to induce political upheaval. The military will also attempt to manipulate the Wingbearers, the special warriors who defend the land with the mythical power of the Hou-kesshō.

The Hou-kesshō (Literally feathered garments of the Mythical Bird/鳳羽結装) is the word used to describe the aerial aircrafts used in this game. According to the lore, the Hou-kesshō was derived from a mysterious crystalline object that descended from the sky named Ubusuna, and now they are bestowed upon three Wingbearers: The leader Gashujō, in addition to Shinogami and Amakaze. The recurrent attacks will separate the country between pro-military and anti-military factions, and unbeknownst to Gashujō, he was manipulated into becoming the new chief of the land to approve of the military getting more power as part of their scheming. On the other hand, Shinogami and Amakaze end up falsely accused as anti-military and hunted for treason, with no options left but to activate the Hou-kesshō and reclaim their innocence.
According to developer Iuchi, the development is steadily progressing but was delayed as the team was having trouble finding designers and modelers. Thanks to 4gamer writing an article about the director’s call for designers – which he published on his personal Website – the new designer and art director Kususaga Rin was able to join the production, and will continue to handle the mechanical design and modeling. Kususaga Rin is an experienced designer who worked before on games such as Lord of Vermilion, Chaos Legion and Fate/Grand Order.
