The recently trending Shonen Jump anime seriesDandadanhas introduced a new and unexpected narrative that changed the entire action and supernatural thriller genre within the anime industry. Although the series has only witnessed the release of its first episode, it has already made its place as one of the best new anime series of 2024.
TheDandadananime series is adapted from the Japanese manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. It is being produced by Science Saru, and the story offers a unique perspective on the paranormal aspects of the world. The manga is already quite popular within the industry, and now the anime is shining even more brightly because of an unexpected twist.
Dandadanhas brought the most unanticipated characters together that have united two different fanbases. These two characters are Luffy fromOne Pieceand Tanjiro fromDemon Slayeras their voice actors. Mayumi Tanaka and Natsuki Hanae are working together inDandadanas an iconic duo.
Luffy and Tanjiro’s Crossover inDandadan
The first episode ofDandadanwas released on August 02, 2025, and while it had a decent start,the story instantly got interestingwhen Okarun came across Turbo Granny, a Yokai trapped inside a maneki-neko doll with mysterious powers that make her extremely dangerous. According to the manga, the two will make a decent pair in the future.

However, what is shocking about the weirdly terrifying Turbo Granny and occult fanatic Okarun is that they are voiced by two of the biggest voice actors in the anime industry. Turbo Granny is voiced by Tanaka, who is popularly known for voicing Luffy inOne Pieceand Krillin inDragon Ball. And Okarun is voiced by Hanae, who is known for voicing Tanjiro inDemon Slayerand Ken Kaneki inTokyo Ghoul.
Both Tanaka and Hanae are big names, and their collaboration on what could be the biggest anime series of 2024 is certainly appreciated by anime fans. The two have already gained attention after the first episode, and it is onlygoing to grow as the series moves forward.
Anime Fans Were Not Expecting Tanjiro and Luffy Together
Both Tanjiro fromDemon Slayerand Luffy fromOne Pieceare currently two of the biggest protagonists in the anime industry. They have a huge fan following who are not just limited to their animation or character development. They also value their voice actors, who bring these characters to life.
Thus, when fans heard about Mayumi Tanaka and Hanae together and came to the revelation that the two would work alongside each other for the rest of the series, they couldn’t control their excitement.
Fans went on to X to express their happiness and shock about seeing Luffy and Tanjiro’s VA as Turbo Granny and Okarun. While some were happy to see the collaboration between Luffy and Tanjiro, others were just excited to see their voice actors in totally different character plots.
