My Hero Academiais one of the prime shonen series in the superhero genre. For years, it has soared in popularity and viewership. Be it characters or plot, the series has several standalone aspects, including its novel take on heroism.

What truly makes it stand out is its exploration of courage and bravado. Compared to cliche superhero stories, Kohei Horikoshi gave a unique spin on the category altogether. However, he may have left a pool of inconsistencies as well.
This is especially true for Izuku Midoriya and his relationship with his father. With fans speculating about the character’s real father, it leaves room for several unanswered questions. But that is not the end of it all.

While fan theories point to the unspoken bond between the hero and All Might, Horikoshi has yet to address the elephant in the room. The mangaka gave bits and pieces regarding the character’s father but there are several loose ends to that as well.
Deku and All Might’s unspoken bond inMy Hero Academia
In every sense,Dekuis atypical of a superhero and their mannerisms. From his strengths to his weaknesses, he is anything but a bog-standard shonen protagonist. But that is not all, considering his feats in the series altogether.
As All Might’s protégé, he hones and harnesses his quirk amidst the perils of the superhero world. More often than not, his carelessness and naivety are considered as his pitfalls. Little do fans realize that his empathy makes him moregrounded and relatable.

A central focus ofMy Hero Academiais the protagonist’s dream to become a superhero. His timid and meek nature proves detrimental when it comes to his bullying. In most cases this makes the readers want to root for him as a flawed character.
This is precisely where hisrelationship with All Mightbecomes an unspoken bond. While All Might is a glorious hero, he isn’t one to be confined to that role solely. As both a mentor and a hero, he serves as a father figure to the hero which fanned several theories.

My Hero Academia Prequel Idea Can be Kohei Horikoshi’s Golden Goose to Beat One Piece
One such theory posits All Might as Deku’s father. And while it seems ideal, it may be too far-fetched. The mangakarevealed the protagonist’s fatherin the series. While he was briefly mentioned, Hisashi Midoriya never really made an appearance.
All we know is that he possesses the fire quirk and is negligent regarding his kid. This may reflect poorly on Deku’s personality and his nature. And while Hisashi was mostly absent, his mere mention left several questions unanswered.

Kohei Horikoshi and the pool of unanswered questions
With his manga’s conclusion,Kohei Horikoshileft a pool of burning mysteries and unanswered questions. The twists and turns were enough to dampen fans’ spirits. This includes the ending which seemed inconclusive for the most part.
Interestingly, though, the mangaka has yet to address the elephant in the room. Rather, elephants in this case, especially with Deku’s father and his role in the series. But that is not all considering the pool of questions that have been raised since time immemorial.
One of the burning mysteries in the series is the origin of quirks. The unique power system of quirks remains the cornerstone of Horikoshi’s manga. It defies the idea of a single standalone hero and thus opts for unconventionality.
While the mangaka laid out the groundwork of impressive quirks of All for One and Zero Gravity, there are caveats to that. This is especially true for their origins which areyet to be exploredseparately. But one thing is certain for sure.
“We can explore the “dark side” of the characters”: Real Reason My Hero Academia: Vigilantes May Make Kōhei Horikoshi’s OG Work Look Inferior
While Horikoshi dispelled the rumors of All Might being Deku’s father, he did little to explore Hisashi Midoriya’s backstory. It is given that chartering each character’s backstory isn’t possible. But it would put an end to assumptions altogether.
My Hero Academiais available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Shueisha’s Manga Plus app.
