Seeking the Goldenfish is a side quest inMonster Hunter Wilds, where Kanya sends Hunter to find a Goldenfish. The game gives almost no information on where to find this rare fish, so it’s up to the player to go out and find it themselves.
The game, however, does give the player a hint. The in-game description of the mission states, “You should be able to find this fish in dark pools, far from the light of the sun.” In other words, the fish is hidden in a cave somewhere.

Capcom Explains the Long Delays For Monster Hunter Wilds
Patience pays off.
If you’re having trouble finding the Goldenfish for this side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, this guide is for you.
Where to Find a Goldenfish in Monster Hunter Wilds
To find the Goldenfish inMonster Hunter Wilds, you first have to find a cave that’s “far from the light of the sun.”
Players can find a cave inarea 14 of Windward Plains, called Campsite Groundwater Vein. Check the image attached for a reference and fast travel to this location.

Once you reach this area, you’ll immediately realize thatthis campsite is inside a cave and a body of water is off to the side.
The Goldenfish is in this body of water, so equip your Fishing Rod and let it loose into the water. Now, all you have to do is wait patiently until the Goldenfish appears.

Monster Hunter Wilds Dev: “More Players Than Ever Playing On PC, Including Japan”
The Monster Hunter Wilds dev team is aware of how vital PC gaming is, and that’s evident even in Japan.
To catch the Goldenfish, lure your Fishing Rod back and forth to get its attention.Eventually, the Goldenfish will take the bait and bite, which then you need to press R2/RT to reel it in. Congratulations, you caught yourself a Goldenfish!

With the Goldenfish in your inventory, all there’s left to do is return to Kanya at Windward Plains Base Camp and hand it over to her. She’ll be pleased with your efforts, and the Seeking the Goldenfish side quest will conclude.
Seeking the Goldenfish Quest Rewards
The Seeking the Goldenfish side quest rewards players withGuild Points, Hunter Rank XP, three Golden Scales, and fiveHoney.
Golden Scales don’t have any purpose on the field and are only meant to be sold to the Provisions Stockpile in Windward Planes.

EachGolden Scalesells for 1000 Zenny. In other words, you can get a total of 3000 Zenny for completing this quest.
On the other hand,Honeyis a helpful item for hunters as it is one of the ingredients to make Mega Potions, the stronger version of the standardPotion.
These aren’t the best rewards compared toother side quests available, but it’s a good introduction tothe fishing mechanicof the game and gives you an idea of how to find different species of fish.
