Marvel’s Midnight Sunsboasts a new, fresh superhero take on strategy games. Outside the epic, turn-based action of superheroes saving the world from the forces of pure evil, though, ‘Midnights Suns’ features a complex social system. Players don’t have to focus on heroes' friendships to beat the game, but completely ignoring the social aspect is not ideal.

The Hunter hasindividual friendshipsand an overall shared Friendship Level. This level reflects the general relationship with the entire gang as a whole and each hero individually – the bonuses of which come along with some incredible perks. Knowing the preferences and personalities of every single hero can be pretty daunting though. So, to make things easy here is a breakdown of the best Hangouts and Havens for each character in Midnight Suns.

Social Club

Each hero forges an individual relationship with Hunter, and players inhabit that while spending time in the Abbey. The Abbey is where everyone lives during the story and is used as a gateway to various engagements throughout the world. In between battles, players have a variety of social activities that build relationships.

Hunter acts as a player’s avatar and reflects the amount of attention and consideration spent with each superhero in the squad. Thebenefits to improving friendshipswith other characters are plentiful:hero passive abilities, stat increases, upgraded cards, and a sense of comradery. So, make sure to maintain and improve each specific relationship through Hangouts, Havens, compliments, gifts, and favors.

Let’s Hang

Hangouts, not to be confused with Havens, are spots around the Abbey that can be repeatedly used for relationship building. These are normal, everyday events that provide small Friendship bonuses. AHangout can be used once per night, and after a day of beating Hydra agents into pulp, Hunter can hang out with one character each night.

Conversation bonuses can happen too, sotry to keep account of a character’s personality and preferences and choose accordingly. Some of the general Hangout activities areplaying cards, reading around the fire, having a drink, working out, stargazing, exploring the grounds, playing video games, pool lounging, and watching a movie.

Homie Havens

In between the turn-based battles, Hunter can invite heroes to Havens as a way to further improve the relationship between them. Each Haven will have to be found by players when exploring the area outside the Abbey. Spread out among the grounds areglowing blue circlesthat represent discoverable activities that can take place in that area. Havens work just like Hangouts with conversation options and a strategy for choosing who to take or what Haven, based on their personality.

However, the big difference is that each Haven can only be used once, ever. So, it’s very important to pair a particular Haven activity with a hero’s preference to capitalize on the single-use opportunity. Information on each hero’s preferred Haven is listed below. Some Havens found in the game are Bird Watching, Fishing, Painting, Foraging for Mushrooms, picnics, and Meditation.

Sparring, Gifts, & Compliments

The other main areas of Friendship-building revolve around daily interactions at the Abbey. Each day, Hunter should be sparring with various superheroes in the Yard. Doing so not only givesfree essence and currencybut also improves the friendship of that character. After enough mission progression, players will unlock the Gift Shop, where they can purchase a random gift each day. Players should stock up on gifts whenever possible in order to have one ready at the end of a Hangout or Haven event.

Again, these play into heroes’ preferences, so make sure to give a gift that fits the person receiving it. Finally, complimenting a character will improve Friendship pointsand help relationshipsevolve. These are rewarded after a character completes a Hero Op, finishes a bit of Research, or through an upgrade of the Training Yard. Give a compliment by walking up to a hero and pressing the corresponding button prompt. Make sure togive different compliments to different characters to maximize the mechanic.
