According toThe Wrap, an insider revealed that Sony was one with developing the films they wanted to till now and was going to concentrate on Spider-Man-centric films and shows. The franchise had three releases this year, including the upcomingKraven: The Hunterand none have received big box office returns, nor have they been critical darlings.
An insider reportedly blamed the low quality of the films themselves to be the reason none of them were hits. The source reportedly told The Wrap,

The biggest issue with the Sony Spider-Man spinoffs seems to be the lack of quality control. The movies just aren’t good. Sometimes that lack of quality meets a movie no one asked for, which was the case with ‘Madame Web,’ and that is a no-win scenario. It may be time for Sony to start cultivating different IP to launch new franchises.
The studio will reportedly focus on films likeSpider-Man: Beyond the Spider-verse, a live-action Miles Morales film, and the Amazon Prime Video seriesSpider-Noirwhile also co-producingSpider-Man 4with the MCU.

Will Michael Keaton Return To The MCU?
While he is best known as Batman in Tim Burton’s films from the ‘80s and his reprisal inThe Flash,Michael Keatondebuted in the MCU as Adrian Toomes a.k.a The Vulture inSpider-Man: Homecoming. He was the first solo villain faced by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and also happened to be the father of Liz, Peter Parker’s love interest in the film.
While the character was seemingly defeated in the film, he reappeared in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe filmMorbiusin a mid-credits scene. But with the SSU now coming to a close, fans are wondering where the next appearance of Keaton will be as the Vulture.

When asked if he would be back forSpider-Man 4, Keaton toldScreenRant,
That’s an interesting character, that guy. Actually, I was there for a minute in the second one… That really was a fun experience, but I haven’t talked to anybody about anything. [In a joking tone] I try not to talk to anybody. I really don’t like people.

While Keaton is truly one of the greatest actors, the star seems to be joining franchises at their dying moments as his return to the bat suit inThe Flashalso seemed to be at the wrong time.
