The extensive lore that flows with the story and characters can sometimes be a lot to take in. Because of this, it’s no surprise that Bioware would create so many different DLCs. These additional contents give a memorable outlook and idea of knowing more about all the games themselves. But, with there being such a large amount of them, what DLCs in the entire trilogy can be deemed the best?
10Overlord (Mass Effect 2)
This DLC includes four new missions, all taking place on the planet Aite. You’re sent to investigate a Cerberus research base that suddenly went silent. You later find out that an experimental virtual intelligence hybrid has gone rogue.
Upon your arrival, you discover that Geth have taken control of the base. The only human alive is Chief Scientist Archer. He tells you about the experiment to use a human volunteer with virtual intelligence, all to create a “VI overlord.” As you course through the station, you’ll eventually end up fighting the rouge VI yourself.

9Kasumi - Stolen Memory (Mass Effect 2)
Kasumi - Stolen Memory is a DLC that comes with it all: a new squad member, weapon, missions, and areas. It follows Kasumi Goto, a thief who seeks to find the graybox that contains memories of her partner. Once you and Kasumi find the graybox, the hologram of Kasumi’s partner appears and reveals sensitive data that would impact humanity’s reputation.

Her partner begs her to destroy the data, on top of his memories as well. You can choose to persuade her to erase the data or keep it intact. Despite having a short length, there’s a lot of emotional content.
8From Ashes (Mass Effect 3)
Similar to a few other Mass Effect DLCs, From Ashes gives you a new team member. Javik is the last surviving Prothean, who you find after you enter Eden Prime and infiltrate a human colony taken over by Cerberus. This is all done to obtain a Prothean artifact.
This content shows more background lore for the main story, alongside war asset mechanics. From Ashes has been regarded as being great if you desire more backstory to Mass Effect. It also garnered controversy at the time as it was released as a paid DLC alongsideMass Effect 3.

7Omega (Mass Effect 3)
After Omega’s most notorious leader, General Oleg Petrovsky, takes over the space station. Aria T’Loak seeks revenge on him, deciding to team up with you as a way to get back her beloved Omega to achieve justice.
Along your journey with Aria, you’ll come across Nyreen Kandros, the Turian leader of the Talons mercenary group. Nyreen seeks to free those enslaved on Omega. Throughout the deadly missions, you’ll come across a variety of engaging enemies – all while you have ruthless and powerful assistance coming in clutch at your most helpless moments.

6Bring Down The Sky (Mass Effect)
As the first DLC for Mass Effect, it has lore that continues further into the Mass Effect universe. Occurring in Asgard,a batarian extremist grouphas taken over an asteroid system. They plan to set it on a path to collide with Terra Nova. You, and a carefully hand-selected group of the Normandy, are the only ones who can save its citizens.
Bring Down The Sky is available to play right after you expose Saren and can leave the Citadel. Three missions are available within this content, and it’s a great source for credit, loot, and XP in general.

5Arrival (Mass Effect 2)
You can begin Arrival when you check your terminal after you clear the Horizon mission. After talking to Admiral Hackett, you’ll unlock the Viper Nebula with a barren Batarian system. This is a solo mission, and it’s a tough one at that, as you must travel to the edge of the galaxy.

The plot follows a scientist missing in the Batarian system. She’s reported evidence of a future Reaper invasion. Your main goal is to find the scientist and learn more about the Reaper’s possible arrival. Besides unlocking a new area, completing the DLC also rewards you with three upgrades. While this does unlock fairly early in the game, it fits best, narratively, after the suicide mission at the end of the game.
4Leviathan (Mass Effect 3)
TheLeviathanDLC is content-filled, with ten missions to explore and experience. It’s unlocked after completing the second mission on the Citadel. When you discover a secret that could kill a Reaper, you seek to uncover it before it’s gone forever.
Racing across the galaxy, you attempt to find the Leviathan and learn the dark history of the Reapers themselves. Taking a couple of hours to complete, this DLC is an intriguing deviation from the main story of Mass Effect 3. It adds lore and context to one of the most terrifying enemies in the Mass Effect series.

3Lair Of The Shadow Broker (Mass Effect 2)
We learn more about the mysterious Shadow Broker while centering around our iconic squadmate, Liara T’Soni. It’s the first DLC to expand on the story that leads up to events in Mass Effect 3. Lair of the Shadow Broker can be played after the suicide mission – or during the game itself.
We follow Liara as she’s tracking down the Shadow Broker. She aims to find the man kidnapped by the Shadow Broker, chasing down clues that will lead her toward the lair. At the end, you’ll be given a chance to strengthen andcontinue a relationshipwith Liara.
2Normandy Crash Site (Mass Effect 2)
Some consider this one ofMass Effect 2’sbest missions in the game. This is a solo assignment, tasking you to wander different areas of the SSV Normandy. Seeing these areas also give you flashbacks. Multiple dog tags are found throughout the mission, giving you insight into what exactly happened amidst the wreckage.
you may find other objects that give more detail, such as a datapad belonging to Navigator Pressley. Killed during the attack on Normandy, he would’ve gladly given his life for the aliens onboard. You can also find Shepherd’s N7 helmet to display in your quarters.
1The Citadel (Mass Effect 3)
The Citadel DLC offers new areas and attractions in the Hub area. It also allows us to better connect with familiar characters. When you discover that there’s a conspiracy targeting you, you must go through various battles with your team to uncover the truth.
Completing the DLC gives a chance to rekindle relationships with characters seen throughout the Mass Effect trilogy. This is the most entertaining extra content addition in the entire trilogy, bringing such unique and humorous content. Overall, it’s a beautiful final goodbye and homage to all of the relationships you developed over the entire series.
