Best War Machine Decks

War Machine’s ability states, “On Reveal: Until the end of next turn, nothing can stop you from playing cards anywhere.” This means that he can override some of the game’s more troubling locations, negate the effects of lane-locking card abilities, and even disregard placement requirements for some powerful cards. War Machine has a similar impact to Jeff, though his Cost and Power are a bit higher, making his entry into the game tougher to choreograph.

He has a huge amount of synergy with cards that have predetermined placement requirements. These are cards likeGiganto(can only be played in the left lane),Cull Obsidian(can only be played in a lane with a 1-Cost card), andCrossbones(can only be played in lanes where you are winning). This can make for some very interesting decks and gameplay strategies.

War Machine Infinaut Deck

This deck focuses on War Machine’s ability to play cards likeCrossbones,Cull Obsidian,Ebony Maw, and theInfinautwithout paying attention to their play requirements. This can lead to some hefty plays on turns five and/or turn six.Hope Summersis a huge asset in this deck! Because War Machine is a 4-Cost card, players won’t be able to take full advantage of his ability and play the Infinaut one earliest play unless Hope Summer is involved. Playing War Machine into a Hope Summers lane will give players six Energy on turn five which means they can slap down Infinaut and follow it up with Taskmaster on turn six!

PlayingMagikwill also help extend the game, giving players more time to make hefty moves. If Infinaut doesn’t work out, players can also fallback to Crossbones, Ebony Maw, and Cull Obsidian to take full advantage of War Machine’s ability!

Best War Machine Counters

War Machine is an On Reveal card, so the biggest counter here isCosmo. This is pretty easy to predict and avoid so, as far as counters go, War Machine doesn’t have a whole lot to worry about! There are some strategic counters present, however. Since War Machine is mostly going to be playing down high-Power cards,Shang-Chiis also one to watch out for.

Best War Machine Synergies

War Machine synergizes with lots of cards! Cards that have placement requirements are gold for War Machine. These are cards likeEbony Maw(can’t be played after turn 3),Giganto(can only be played in the left lane),Cull Obsidian(can only be played in a lane with a 1-Cost card), andCrossbones(can only be played in lanes where you are winning), and, the most impactful, theInfinaut(can’t be played if you played a card on the turn before).

Is War Machine Worth It?

War Machine is a fascinating card with a lot of potential. His ability is strong enough that he will likely be the centerpiece of many decks, even if he doesn’t go the full
