Grandmaster,Marvel Snap’s newest card, has some interesting potential in the game’s current meta but fitting him into the correct deck can be difficult. His Ability is a movement and On Reveal Ability, in line with recent additions (Miek) that also have dual archetype Abilities.
Marvel Snap: Best Miek Decks
If you need help finding a deck for Miek, this guide has you covered.
Marvel Snap continues to add new and fresh cards to the game and this week’s debut is no different. Grandmaster is a great fit in On Reveal, Silver Surfer, and Darkhawk decks, which will be outlined later in the guide, but there are a few strategies to keep in mind while playing the card.

Marvel SNAP
Best Grandmaster Decks
Grandmaster’s Ability states “On Reveal: Move one of your other On Reveal cards here to the middle location. Its ability happens again.” This means that when he is played in a lane, another On Reveal card in that lane will move and repeat their Ability. This means that his move Ability will not have an effect on non-On Reveal cards likeHuman Torch,Vulture, orMultiple Man.
Players looking to get the most out of Grandmaster should place him into a deck where he can retrigger useful On Reveal effects. Some Abilities mentioned below that are very profitable for Grandmaster to trigger areNakia,Forge, orSilver Surfer’s Power-increasing Ability,KorgorRockslide’s junk Ability, and any variation of cards that have adestroy Ability. When played correctly, players should be able to get at least two uses out of some of these cards, offering a huge bonus on the board.

Playing Grandmaster effectively takes quite a bit of strategy, more so than other recent cards. Players will have to keep in mind that his Ability moves otherOn Reveal cards to the middle location, which means the other cards in that lane (especially in a destroy deck) will need to be placed with Grandmaster’s Ability in mind. His Ability could have devastating effects if the wrong card moves and destroys a lane full of high-Power cards.
On Reveal: Move one of your other On Reveal cards here to the middle location. Its ability happens again.

Grandmaster Destroy Deck
This is a classic destroy deck with Grandmaster serving as a vessel for powerful synergies. Playing Venom in any lane to soak up Power and then following up with Grandmaster, which will cause Venom’s Ability to reoccur in the center lane, can be a setup for huge effects. Think something likeNimrod in a side lane on turn five, followed by Venom and Grandmaster on turn six. This would result in four Nimrods and two high-Power Venoms spread across the board. The other cards in this deck aren’t too complex and the synergies are clear since it falls under the basic destroy archetype, but Grandmaster can be an extremely useful asset in the end.

Grandmaster Sebastian Shaw Deck
This Grandmaster deck focuses onSilver SurferandSebastian Shaw. The ideal win scenario here is to boost Sebastian Shaw using cards likeNakia,Forge,Silver Surfer, andIronheartand thenuse Grandmaster to re-trigger their Abilitiescausing Shaw’s Power to increase even further. Silver Surfer has the added bonus that he will be able to boost the Power of all 3-Cost cards, and most of the cards in this deck fall under that category. Placing Silver Surfer down on turn six while following it up with Grandmaster would result in huge Power gains, especially if the board is full of 3-Cost cards.
Serais a huge asset in this deck as well. She will take the entirety of your Cost on turn five, but she will lower the cost of your other cards which means you may play up to three 3-Cost cards on the final turn. There are also some useful synergies here with theJuggernaut/Stormcombo andBrood/Wolfsbanecombo. There should be enough Power in each lane at the end of the game for this deck to come out on top a good amount of the time.

Grandmaster Darkhawk Deck
This deck is focused heavily onDarkhawk. Using cards likeKorgandRockslidewill pile Rocks into your opponent’s deck and, in turn, raise the Power of Darkhawk. The effects of these two cards can be doubled using Grandmaster.Black Widowgives players a huge advantage in this deck as well, as her Widow’s Bite stops the opponent from drawing a card, which means more in the deck, which means more Power for Darkhawk. Doubling up on Black Widow’s Ability using Grandmaster can be a frustrating tactic that may cause opponents to retreat. Similar to Black Widow,Leechserves as a bit of a disruptive card. Playing him will cause the opponent’s cards to lose their Abilities on turn six, which will change their play strategy and could result in a victory for your Grandmaster deck.

Best Grandmaster Counters
There aren’t a lot of counters for Grandmaster. Since his Ability is On Reveal and he has an effect on other On Reveal cards,Cosmois really the biggest obstacle in Grandmaster’s way of becoming a truly unstoppable card (though this is usually true for most new On Reveal cards). While Cosmo isn’t used sporadically in the current meta, he is still a card that players will run into often so having a backup plan just in case he’s played in a vital lane is always a good idea.
Marvel Snap: Best Blob Decks
Marvel Snap’s newly released card, Blob, can be a real powerhouse. This guide can help you fit him into a deck.
Best Grandmaster Synergies
Grandmaster synergizes really well with a ton of cards. Namely, cards that have impactful On Reveal Abilities that can be triggered twice by GM. These are cards likeWhite Tiger,Black Panther,Absorbing Man,Electro,Odin, andIronheart.AliothandShang-Chiare interesting cards to play Grandmaster into, though their use or occurrence is a bit more situational than the other synergies listed.Beasthas an interesting interaction with Grandmaster and could possibly lead to his Ability being played multiple times. To name all of the cards that Grandmaster synergizes well with would take a very long time, but you may sort your in-game inventory of cards by On Reveal Abilities to see which cards will be applicable to GM’s effects.
Is Grandmaster Worth It?
Grandmaster is a very interesting card, but with it falling into the Series 5 category of cards,it is best to wait to purchase Grandmasteruntil he’s tested fully against the game’s current meta. Grandmaster can be purchased from the Token Shop for 5,000 Tokens or unlocked from the Spotlight Cache using a Spotlight Key. He will be appearing in the Spotlight Caches next to Hit-Monkey and Loki (both very powerful cards in their own right), so if players are missing all three cards in the Cache it may be more valuable to spend the Keys to obtain them.
Marvel Snap: Best Skaar Decks
