Groot Offensive Strategies
When playing as Groot, your primary focus should be utilizing his Wall abilities as often as possible. He can awaken two different walls: one that grants Groot Bonus Health and another that deals additional damage on top of base damage.
While Groot’s Walls should be constantly used when playing as him, you’ll also need to utilize his other skills at key moments in combat.

Groot Defensive Strategies
While Groot excels at offensive play, he can also be very useful on the defensive side. Groot is at his best when he focuses on helping his teammates through his Ironwood Wall, Team-Up, and Ultimate abilities.

Something seems rather familiar about these heroes and villains.
Here are some defensive strategies to follow when playing as Groot:

Friendly Shoulder
Rocket Raccoon
Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot’s shoulders, receiving Damage Reduction.
Jeff the Land Shark
Groot’sTeam-Up abilitycan only be executed whenRocket RaccoonandJeff the Land Sharkare on your team.
When using Friendly Shoulder, these three work together to become a one-man team and deal damage together. Additionally, all three will receive less damage, turning them into tank-like heroes.

Groot Counters & How to Deal With Them
The biggest counters to Groot areheroes that can fly. Some examples include Storm and Iron Man. Flying characterscan be super annoyingand have an advantage over Groot because they can simply fly over his walls.
Marvel Rivals: How to Play The Punisher
Get ready to punish your enemies.
There are a couple of ways to counter flying heroes with Groot. First, you can use his standard attack and throw vines at them while they’re in the air.
Second, Groot’s Team-Up ability is a good counter, as it will allow Rocket Raccoon and Jeff the Land Shark to focus on the flying heroes as Groot focuses on opponents on the ground.
Best Team Comps With Groot
While Rocket Raccoon and Jeff the Land Shark are obvious choices to team up with Groot, due to them being required for the Team-Up Ability, other options can make Groot even more viable on the battlefield.
First, you want a healer nearbyto complement Groot’s Ironwood Wall healing ability. I recommend eitherCloak & Dagger, who is great at passive healing while also dealing damage, or Luna. Luna is consideredone of the best heroes in the gamedue to her ability to heal allies through normal attacks.
It’s also smart topair Groot with a quick Duelist.Since Groot is generally on the slower side, you want a hero who can counter this and force the opposing team to act quickly. The best options here are eitherSquirrel GirlorSpider-Man, who are both incredibly speedy.
