While most games cater to casual players, there’s always a competitive mode where things get tense. You get to witness the best players, team compositions, and maneuvers that casual players are unfamiliar with.
Players are divided into tiers and awarded points for winning matches. Conversely, they lose their rankings if they fumble a match or two.

WithMarvel Rivals’brief rosters and plethora of hero combinations, it could be challenging to progress through the competitive mode, especially if you’re just beginning the game.
That’s why we’ve brought you 10 Best Tips for Competitive mode that you can benefit from and push your rank, at least to Gold, to get the Golden Moon Knight skin.

10Warm Up Before Queuing
Getting Ready
You’ve got a free day and want to grind the ranked matches all day; that’s awesome. But I don’t recommend playing the ranked match as your first match of the day.
I highlyrecommend warming upand letting your synapses fire before you queue for an intense match. Please haveat least one match before you queue for the Competitive Modejust to reactivate the muscle memory.

Quick Play, Conquest, or Practice range: choose a mode where you canpractice your main heroesquickly and then queue the Competitive mode.
9No Experiments In Ranked
Old Is Gold
This tip goes in tandem with the one mentioned next:never try to play a hero you’ve never played before. Sure, it’s amazing to be a flex player, but playing a hero on whom you’ve got 10 or 20 minutes of playtime may work against you.
You’ll have to get used to their skills, figure out a combination, and reposition yourself throughout the game while you’re still figuring out their abilities.

So, sure, try out that new hero in casual or conquest mode, not in the competitive mode.
8Learn To Fill For The Team
Take One For The Team
It’s not always the case that you’ll be playingthe same hero or classin every match. Someone else may pick the hero you wanted, andyou’re left to fill the roles for your team.
If you’re a Duelist main, and someone got to Iron Fist before you, you’ll have to pick a Strategist hero if there’s none.

That’s whyit’s important to be flexible. You necessarily don’t have to learn all the heroes, butlearning one or two heroes from other classeswill benefit you.
Check which heroes' playstyle suits you if you have to fill a role. That way, you won’t be holding your team back and will be able to do something for them.

7Learn Hero Counters
Very Important To Know
LikeOverwatch, youcan change heroes during the matchinMarvel Rivals. And it’s very important to learn whichhero can counter anotherbecause no team is perfect. Oneteam composition may workfor a few matches, but it’s not unbeatable.
Let’s say you’re playing with Moon Knight against a team with a Hawkeye. Chances are, Hawkeye will one-shot you, while you’d have to hit multiple shots with Moon Knight to take him out. That’s wherelearning which heroes can counter otherscomes into play.
If the enemy team has melee Duelist characters, you mustgo with Strategistsor Duelists, which can stun enemy flankers. They’ll try to overwhelm you while you must avoid and counter them.
6Prioritize Other Team’s Strategists
Don’t Let Them Heal
As long as the enemy team’s Strategists are alive, killing them will always be tough. Strategists are made toheal the teamand provide them with buffs like Damage boost, Movement boost, and Healing Over Time.
No strategist wants to play at the frontline, and duelists will protect them in the backline while tanks willsoak the incoming damage. That’s why it’s important to breach their backline.
Focus on enemy Strategiststo cut off the enemy team’s healing supply and make them vulnerable to your Duelists.
5Queue Break For A Few Minutes
Take A Pause
Sometimes, you get bad teammates who like to throw the game and spoil the fun for everyone on the team. If you instantly queue after a match, youmay end up queuing with themagain.
You can usethe Avoid As Teammate optionon the final match screen, but there’s a limit. That’s why I suggest takinga break for a minute or twoand then queuingthe Competitive modeagain.
That way, your chances of ending up with the same bad teammates could be less.

4Know Your Main Inside & Out
Use Those Tricks
Whatever your main character is, you need to know everything about them. Why? Because,at times, you have to carry the game, and unless you know what your hero is capable of, you’re not unleashing their full potential.
For example, I switch to Moon Knight whenever I have to carry a game. I’m mainly a strategist; however, with Moon Knight, I know that his Ankhs can be destroyed. So, a good idea is to place them behind enemies and instantly shoot at them to shred their HP bar.
Thinking out of the box during the match will yield crucial picks and help you win. Just avoid risky maneuvers, and you’ll be good.
3Form Your Party
Take Your Chance
Most players don’t have a party and queue themselves in the competitive mode. It’s always a hit or miss with randoms. Some of them will flame you for not specifically helping them, while others will throw the game for no reason.
However, you can identify the nice peoplewho helped others during the match and scout themfor your party. Or, even better, join theirs.
In ranked matches, Iscout nice people, add them as friends, and play with them.At least, I know I’m playing with someone who understands the game.
2Never Flank Alone
Go In Pairs
Unless you’re really skilled with a Duelist, I don’t recommend solo flanking.Flanking in pairs works best, and it’s even better if you have a healer.
However, if your healers are busy with healing Vanguards, ask the other Duelist to join you andflank enemies' Strategists.
Whatever game mode you’re playing, prioritizing a hero that can buff or heal their allies is the top priority.
Ping your location to your healer whenever you’re flanking; they may be able to pocket-heal you.
1Use Those Pings
Give A Few Hints
Pinging an enemy flanker’s locationto your team can save your Strategist. Thebest teams are well-coordinated and communicatewith others, especially on high ELO, where the stakes are higher.
Let’s say the enemy team hasn’t come from the spawn as soon as the match started. Chances are, their Doctor Strange is opening a portal behind your backline, and their entire team will rush toward your Strategists.
That’s where the pings can help your team instantly locate the enemy and reposition. Use the ping system toask for heals, alert the team about an enemy, or notify them about your ultimate status.
If you see an enemy missing from the battlefield, locate them and ping their location. They might be planning a sneak attack.
