Reaching Glohm Gobblick
To battle Glohm Gobblick, sail Shipshape Island back to the Great Lighthouse in the Lushgreen Sea.Once the Great Lighthouse is in sight, use the cannon to launch yourself ashore.
Remember to press X and speed up Shipshape Island’s travel along Concordia’s currents! Travel is also a good time to backtrack and see if Connectar Flowers have opened up new areas on previous islands.

Don’t worry—no need to battle your way back through the basement into Gobblick’s boss room.Just jump into the Warp Pipe in the northwest corner of the island. It’s right next to the traveling merchant.
If you didn’t open this pipe before fighting Gobblick the first time, well, you’re in for a bit of a walk. Fortunately, you won’t need to complete any puzzles a second time!

8 JRPG Flops That Deserve A Second Chance
Just because a JRPG is good doesn’t mean it will suceed. At least the first time.
Preparing For The Fight
Warp into the Great Lighthouse’s basement, and remember to use the Save Block sitting just outside the boss room. Entering the door triggers the re-fight automatically.
As the first Glohmed-up boss you’ll face, Glohm Gobblick presents a spike in difficulty if you battle him the moment he’s unlocked.Dewey Fightem recommends you’re at least level 35.
Considering the main story doesn’t expect you to be around level 25 during the Heatfreeze Island wedding … well, I’m sure you’ll be fine! Don’t be afraid to come back at a higher level if the boss is too rough.
Make sure to hit up the merchant here or on Shipshape Island andtop off your supply of Mushrooms, Syrups, and Nuts.
Also verify to equip the most suitable Gloves and Accessories for a proper battle. It’s real easy to run around with a Quick-Charge Brooch equipped, and forget to swap to a more defensive item before a boss fight.
Battle Plugs
Picking the right Battle Plugs prior to starting the fight significantly improves survivability, especially when battling a Glohmed boss.
Getting hit by any of Glohm Gobblick’sattacks can inflict the Glohm status effect. While one of them are Glohmed, Mario and Luigi can’t work together for Bros. Attacks or Luigi Logic. A Refreshing Herb has only a 50% chance to cure the ailment, but theAuto Herb plug lets you use one automatically each turn.
Ampberries always successfully cure the Glohm status, but at this point in the game they’re in short supply. If you fight Glohm Gobblick after clearing Wayaway Island in the Gulchrock Sea, you’ll have access to the Auto Ampberry plug to make this even easier.
In addition to preparing for Glohm, begin the fight with your favorite defensive plugs equipped. In particular,Surefooted Guard is great for preventing Dizzyand plugs like Auto 1-Up, Easy-Peasy Counters, and Damage Shield are always handy when adapting to the Glohmed boss’s quicker attack patterns.
Battling Glohm Gobblick
Glohm Gobblick’s moveset is similar to the original fight, but he hits harder and attacks more quickly.
This is where Easy-Peasy Counters shines—floating in the air or using the hammer’s larger hitbox helps avoid damage while adjusting to the Glohmed boss’s tempo.Like in other Mario-style RPGs,dodging is important!
The good news is, just like in the first fightGlohm Gobblick has no particular defenses to prevent attacks.Just pound away at the big nasty plant with your favorite offensive Battle Plugs and most consistent Bros. Attacks.
In particular,Luigi’s Jump Helmet is great for single-target damagewhen you first unlock the Glohm Gobblick fight.
Mario’s Red Shell is also a solid damage-dealer, but midway through Gulchrock Sea, you’ll unlockMario’sClockout Blow, which deals massive damage when facing a single target.
Clockout Blow is my favorite Bros. Attack—combined with the Bros. Boost plug and/or a Luigi Logic stun, Mario can put someseriouspain ontoBrothership’sbosses. It’s the move I used to clear all three “Painful Blow” challenges.
One of the few differences in Glohm Gobblick’s attacks is thathe spits Candy instead of Coins during his Junk Barrage attack.Considering Candy heals both HP and BP, snagging one can really change the flow of this fight.
Luigi Logic
Keep hammering away at Glohm Gobblick, and eventuallya whirlwind will spawn nearby, triggering Luigi Logic.Auto 1-Up and Auto Herb are helpful once this is available to ensure both brothers are healthy enough to activate Luigi Logic.
Spin the boss around and toss him into the whirlwind by pressing B. As usual, your reward is a stun window during whichall attacks deal critical damage to Glohm Gobblick.
If you’re underleveled, don’t be afraid to use this stun window for healing instead. Keep alternating attacks, and Luigi Logic stuns, and eventually, this weed will be pulled up, dropping a Gold Medallion (worth 1,000 Coins).
You can’t use the Return Pipe on a Great Lighthouse island, so head back through the Warp Pipe and launch yourself via cannon to Shipshape Island. There, return to Dewey Fightem to claim your reward.
He may even already have a second Glohmed boss for you to fight…
