He is not the protagonist; he is not the antagonist; he is, nonetheless, the most iconic and recognizable character from Gege Akutami’sJujutsu Kaisen. The white-haired and blindfolded teacher is characterized as being an unhinged god in combat while having the personality of a mischievous child outside of combat.

This combination of character traits makes Gojo an instant fan-favorite to the audience and readers of Jujutsu Kaisen. Practically any scene that features Gojo either inspires awe or is bound to get a laugh. Between all of these beloved scenes, here are ten of the very best times when Gojo unceremoniously takes the spotlight.
10Cinematic Training
As the most gifted cursed energy user in human history and a teacher at Jujutsu High, Gojo is tasked with training the protagonist, Yuji. As withmost shonen, audiences might expect atraining montage of some sort, testing the willpower, dedication, and resilience of the protagonist.
Instead, Gojo sits Yuji down in a basement and tells him to watch movies. Gojo insists that controlling one’s negative emotions is crucial in using cursed energy; as such, a doll imbued with cursed energy will automatically strike Yuji if his emotions suddenly spike. In other words, Gojo sets up a training montage where he’s an absentee teacher.

9Bullying Utahime
Utahime is another cursed energy user and student supervisor at Jujutsu High’s sister school in Kyoto. Contrasting with the childlike Gojo, she is stern, serious, and does not find Gojo very amusing. Gojo, on the other hand, finds himself incredibly amusing, especially when it comes to annoying Utahime.
Anytime the two are in the same room, Gojo is guaranteed to drop an off-handed comment towards Utahime — probably about how he is the greatest teacher, how she could learn well from his example, and so on.

8Gojo Vs. Sukuna?
In Episode 2, “For Myself,” Gojo brings Yuji to Jujutsu High for the first time. Yuji is still new to every concept in the show — what Jujutsu High is, what cursed energy is, and what it means to be Sukuna’s vessel. Having just met Gojo recently as well, Yuji asks his newfound teacher if he would be able to defeat a fully incarnated Sukuna (that is, whenever Yuji eats all of Sukuna’s fingers).
Gojo, always confident in himself, declares that it would not be an easy fight — but that he would win nonetheless.

7Formation B
In the ending skit of Episode 23, “The Origin of Obedience, Pt. 2,” Yuji, Nobara, and Gojo believe that Megumi is getting hit on by a random woman. Having apparently prepared for this contingency, Gojo calls for the three of them to assemble into “Formation B.”

Yuji and Nobara begin harassing Megumi, insisting that he has forsaken and forgotten his “romantic relationship” to them. Meanwhile, Gojo cuts in and calls Yuji and Nobara homewreckers, and that — most importantly — Megumi has violin practice to attend immediately. Soon, he will master “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” under the watchful eye of Gojo-sensei.
6Megumi’s Personal Counselor
Of the main trio — Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi — Megumi is a perfectly competent jujutsu sorcerer for his age. He takes his role seriously; he works well in tandem with Yuji and Nobara, despite their differences in personality. To Gojo, however, this is not enough.
During a one-on-one session with Megumi, Gojo is direct with his student and adoptive son: that he will die alone, that he should rather die to win rather than merely dying victoriously, and that — more importantly — Megumi must be greedier. At this moment, Gojo drops the goofy act that he puts on and briefly becomes the serious teacher that his students need him to be.

5Recruiting Megumi
Speaking of Megumi essentially being Gojo’s adoptive son, Episode 23 features a flashback to Megumi’s childhood, where he is “recruited” into Jujutsu High. Having been abandoned by his parents and living with his sister, Megumi has quite the attitude problem.
When Gojo casually and tactlessly tells Megumi that he was sold to the powerful Zen’in clan — a sale which Gojo stopped on the condition that Megumi would later enroll in Jujutsu High — Megumi’s attitude certainly didn’t get any better.

4Gojo Vs. Miguel
In the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a slightly-younger Gojo fights Miguel, a powerful jujutsu sorcerer allied with the antagonistic, humanity-hating Geto. In the fight, Miguel uses a whip-like weapon which he calls The Black Rope, an artifact which his family had woven for generations.
Over the course of this relatively brief fight, Gojo destroys this weapon (yes, the weapon that took generations to make) and dispatches Miguel thereafter. Although it’s a brief fight, it is one of the few that Gojo takes seriously.
3“My Student’s Watching…”
Although Gojo is briefly introduced in the first episode to announce Yuji’s eventual execution, he has his first major showcase in Episode 2, “For Myself.” At this point, he arrives late to a crisis — Megumi has nearly fought to the death, and Yuji has eaten one of Sukuna’s fingers. To test how well Sukuna and Yuji have fused, Gojo asks Yuji to switch to Sukuna for ten seconds.

During these ten seconds, Gojo and Sukuna fight immediately. Gojo confesses to showing off since “his student is watching,” and his quick, imperceptible movements mixed with showy attacks certainly count as showing off.
2Gojo Vs. Jogo
Apparently, Gojo loves showing off in front of his students. While Yuji is “training” (that is, watching The Lord of the Rings), Gojo is harassing the cursed spirit, Jogo. In the middle of the fight, Gojo rushes back to Yuji and pulls him to the battlefield as a live teaching exercise.
Not only does Gojo pulverize Jogo into a lakebed, he also counters Jogo’s Domain Expansion with his own, stronger Domain Expansion. For the first time in the show, this is also when the audience sees Gojo’s mysterious blue eyes, which he unveils for his Domain Expansion technique.
1Hollow Purple
Gojo does not get involved in too much fighting. After all, it would be all too easy for Gege Akutami to resolve any fight by throwing Gojo into the mix. When the existence of Sukuna’s fingers and Jujutsu High itself is at stake, however, Gojo will not hold back.
Mahito, a central antagonist in Season One, has sent several of his underlings to attack Jujutsu High, and they constructed a barrier to keep Gojo away from their plans. After Gojo breaks through, however, he’s free to take down the enemies as quickly as he pleases. Fusing two of his abilities into one, he produces Hollow Purple: an energy beam with immense power and range. With this ridiculous attack, he quickly dispatches and disperses the attackers, decisively saving the day.
