From viewership to readership,Solo Levelingis soaring to new heights with its massive success. Written by Chugong, the manhwa is top-tier in terms of its plot, characters, and world-building. It is one of the highest-rated series on Crunchyroll and IMDb.

And while the second season is in the works, the manhwa has plagued the readers with incessant plotholes. The series has become a cesspool of plot irregularities as most fans have pointed out. But there’s more to it.
Although the main story was serialized in 2021, Chugong is working on its sequelRagnarok. Nonetheless, most fans have raised questions regarding Jinwoo’s mother’s fate.

The abrupt ending remains incorrigible for the most part. Even after three years, the series isn’t exempt from the biggest critique. And while the anime peaks in terms of animation, it flatlines in terms of its cramped plot.
Sung Jinwoo’s mother’s fate in the series
Sung Jinwooisn’t a bog-standard shonen protagonist who has it all. He is symbolic of hard work, persistence, and resilience in most aspects. But most of all, his well-written character renders familiarity within most readers.
As an average E-class Hunter, he works his way to the top and becomes an S-class hunter. Most readers have called it a fluke while others commend this move. By and by, his actions are fueled by his love for his family, especially his mother.

Park Kyung Hye is one of the pivotal characters in Chugong’s series. As Jinwoo’s mother, she is a driving force behind his actions. Hismere purposeto protect and nurture his family sets him apart from other shonen protagonists.
Interestingly, his mother is plagued with a debilitating condition called Eternal Slumber which puts her in a coma. This is mainly due to the exposure of humans to high-intensity mana due to the opening of the gates. But there’s more to it.

As explained byFiction Horizon, Eternal Sleep Disease is a condition where humans are overwhelmed by mana and magic. While some people were immune to it, others such as Jinwoo’s mother suffered immensely due to it.
After defeating Baran, Jinwoo manages to heal his mother from Eternal Slumber but this raises several questions. His decision to stay is deemed inconclusive by many readers. It does., however, tie well with the rushed ending of the manhwa.

Solo Leveling’srushed ending
Solo Levelingmay be one of the finest anime adaptations of the popular manhwa. But there’s an aspect that even the adaptation cannot beat and that is, the rushed ending. Like most manhwa, Chugong’s series faced flak for its abrupt ending.
Above all, the animeseeks to outdo the manhwain more ways than one. In terms of visuals and plotline, the anime is stellar and impeccable. This also ties well with its pacing which is an ever-present issue with the manhwa.
With the manhwa’s closure in 2021, most readers pointed to the rushed ending. Although many commended the series for its closure, the series is ridden with unanswered questions. From Eternal Slumber to the power-scaling, the serieshighlights inconclusivenessin most aspects.
This is especially true for Jinwoo’s power throughout the series. One of the biggest criticisms of the series is the hero’s power upgrade. The hunter system is reduced to a mockery with Jinwoo’s establishment as an overpowered protagonist.
