The last timeKillzonewas released was back in 2013 whenKillzone Shadow Fallwas released for PlayStation 4 after the first game in the series came out on the PlayStation 2 console. Two years back in 2022, Sony decided to shut down the game’s servers much to the disappointment of fans.
Over a decade later, there has been no news or updates about the game even as long-time fans have been quite vocal about reviving the title. With the release ofThe Last of Us 2 Remastered, fans have now noticed a cosmetic addition to the game in the form of a t-shirt that seems to bear theKillzonelogo.
The Last of Us 2 Remastered Has a Killzone Reference
After months of no updates about a possible revival of Killzone, Sony seems to have quietly added a reference to Guerrilla’s sci-fi first-person shooter series in the form of a cosmetic item inThe Last of Us 2 Remastered.
The remastered edition ofThe Last of Us 2was released a few days back on the 19th of this month. Fansnoticedthat one of the T-shirts players can obtain for Ellie has aKillzonelogo and other art on the T-shirts includes references toResistance, The Getaway,Twisted Metal, andWipEout.
One fan left a response to the post on X bymentioningthat fans have been long overdue for a new game in theKillzoneseries. The fan continued saying that it wasn’t the best way for Sony to remind fans about the game.
Another fanrepliedhow it’s been more than a decade since Sony has acknowledgedKillzone, and did so in the form of a T-shirt. Yet another user compared the reference to “dumping a gallon of lemon juice on a deep wound” referring to just how fans feel about Sony teasing fans after all these years.
Guerrilla Followed Killzone With Another Massive PlayStation Hit

Back in July last year, Studio Director Jan Bart van Bleek had also confirmed saying the franchise will remain for a long time, including a TV series titledHorizon 2074.
With no rumors of any sort aboutKillzone, fans had already lost hope for a reboot of the shooter game. After this subtle hint inThe Last of Us 2 Remasterededition, fans hope the studio is thinking of a revival of the fan-favorite Killzone series.
