During a 2022 interview withESPN’s First Take, The Cerebral Assassin discussed the severity of his illness and noted how terrible his condition was, as he had a heart failure and that his ejection fraction was down to 12.

”By the time I got to the emergency room, my ejection fraction had gone down to 22, which, I was in heart failure. Bad. By the next morning—as they figured that out that evening – by the next morning as they got the MRI done and they were sending me in for a heart cath my ejection fraction was down to 12.”

During that tragic event, he nearly believed he was going to die, prompting him to make the decision to officially retire. When asked if he would ever step into the ring again, he made it clear it was not happening again.

“I won’t—I would never wrestle again. First, I have a defibrillator in my chest. Which, it’s probably not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.”

That being said, The Cerebral Assasin will continue to feud with The Rock and the other members of The Bloodline on WWE television. This will especially happen after The Rock and Roman Reigns make their return to WWE television on next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
