She went on to establish her own production company,Flower Films, in 1995. Since then, she has produced and starred in several of its productions, including its very first film,Never Been Kissed. The plot revolves around Josie Geller, a meek editor for a newspaper, who has never been in a relationship. Josie has to work undercover at a high school, and shenanigans ensue.
The actress spoke about some of the hurdles she had to overcome during a recent episode of her show,The Drew Barrymore Show. Barrymore has made someinteresting revelationsover the years. This time, she recalled the risk she had to take by starting her own company while still being in the early stages of her career.

TheScreamactress then went on to talk about the 1999 film, which was the first project under her company’s banner.

She revealed that she had to tone down her comedic act in the film since it was going too far.
“I was very stressed throughout the movie. I was so scared during the whole film because I knew if it didn’t work, we weren’t going to get another chance. We had so much fun making it but I had to clench stomach the whole time. And I would get these calls from the studio and they were like, ‘I’m sorry, but you’re just looking too unattractive. Stop it.’ And I was like, ‘Good.’ And they were like, ‘No, no, no, no, no. It’s too far.’ So I was forced to even tone it down a little bit because I had gone even farther than that,”she said.

Barrymore paid heed to the feedback, and the film remains one of her best. She has been a force to be reckoned with, and her choices reflect that.

Acting runs through Barrymore’s bloodstream since she hails from a long line of artists. Her father, aunt, and even her grandfather, were renowned actors.

Her family also has its fair share of ghosts, with alcohol being one of the biggest. In an interview withPeople, Barrymore revealed that her biggest success was being able to break the chain.
“I think, for me, stopping drinking is one of the most honoring things I can do to the Barrymore name because we have all been such hedonists. Don’t look to me as the pillar of health and wellness and having it all together. It’s just like, you know what? This didn’t work for our family, and I’m going to stop it. I’m going to be the one to break the link in that chain and maybe my kids and their kids will be better off for it,”she said.

The actress did not have the easiest time quitting her addiction, though. Sheresorted to alcoholwhen she was going through a divorce, but she has been sober for years now. However, her story is one of triumph, proving that, with the right help, it is possible to live without being dependant on drinks.
