TheTronfranchise is making a return in 2025 with its third installment,Tron: Ares.Starring Jared Leto, the movie will be a continuation of the series, set several years afterTron: Legacy, the last film in the series that was released in 2010. Jeff Bridges, who played a dual role in the movie, will be making a return inAres.

Looking back at the 2010 film, viewers were amazed by the level of animation that was devoted to its making. However, Bridges wasn’t too fond of the whole process, as well as the end result.
Jeff Bridges thought his CGI inTron: Legacydidn’t look like himself
Though the CGI in 2010’sTron: Legacywas revolutionary compared to its time, it doesn’t hold a candle to current technology. However, it also failed to impressJeff Bridges, whose CGI’ed avatar was used for the villain in the film.
Talking to Josh Horowitz on his podcast, Bridges recalled:
“I got scanned in the computer when we did Tron 2, what was it called… Legacy, yeah. And I wasn’t particularly fond of that recreation of myself (laughs). I thought I looked more like Bill Maher than myself.”
Bridges looks back at the making ofTron: Legacy, and even though the animation was not to his liking, he praised Joseph Kosinski for his direction.

YouTuber perfectsTron: Legacy‘s CGI
Tron: Legacy’s CGI now looks mild when looking through a modern lens, but itoccupies a special placein the minds of 2000s kids. Hence, a YouTuber by the name Shamook tried to better Jeff Bridges’ CGI using deepfake in several shots of the film.
And it looks like it worked:
Some of the fans were rather surprised by the end result. They commented under the video:
They should really just do this officially for a “Special Edition” or something, it really needs it.

This is really really good. Disney should go ahead and put out an improved version of the movie deepfaking Clu.
The eye detail and the mouth movements make all the difference. The fact that the Deep Fake is so subtle and not jaw-dropping is a testament as to the original effect being “almost there”.

Brilliant work. I am a fan of this film but always felt that the face on CLU looked like a rubber mask of Jeff Bridges. I hope they do a ‘special edition’ with these kinds of edits for us fans!
Actually incredible, and much better than the original, obviously! Nice work. TL is in my top 3 and it’s very nice to see such improvements.

Tron: Ares – Jared Leto’s Method Acting Led to an Awkward First Encounter With Jeff Bridges
The deepfakes were quite good, making some of the fans wish for an entire movie with better animation and CGI. But we do have to remember thatTron: Legacywas ahead of its time. 10 years ago, its CGI animation and effects stood out from what was used in contemporary movies.
