Amongst the many up-and-rising TV series,Fallout’srecent release has found itself in a comfortable position owing to the name’s long built-up legacy. Borrowing source material from a video game franchise directed by none other than Todd Howard, fans have been tuning in to watch the series based on their favorite games adapted into another form.

However, as anyone would be, the studio was potentially unsure of whether to go ahead with the project or not, and Jonathan Nolan’s ambition on how to construct the series’s universe might have been the last straw Howard was waiting for to take the leap of faith.
How Jonathan Nolan’s Vision ForFalloutJust Might Be The Cause For Its Success
In an interview viaIGNconducted with Jonathan Nolan andTodd Howard, the duo was asked why the TV series was made so intertwined with the source material, i.e. the games. It was put forward how they had the potential to essentially do what the MCU did when they started producing movies, which was to stray far from the comics and have another unique universe. Replying to the same, Nolan mentioned-
“I think from our end, we had seen the care with which Todd and the team at Bethesda had made sure that all of these games connect together, unlike the MCU or when I worked on Batman, where you have so many different stories, and long, long ago they abandoned any attempt to connect them all together…-But we didn’t want to be in our own little private corner of an Elseworlds or a different universe. I think that would be less meaningful to me watching the series, to know that it was completely divorced from the reality of the games.”

Jonathan Nolan ultimately disclosed how when it came to creating theFalloutTV series, he decided to not follow the path studios like Marvel or DC had chosen in the past. He decided it would be better and would hold more meaning if the series held a close connection to the events that actually take place in the games, allowing a bond to be formed with those fans who have experienced the titles for themselves.
It remains impressive howTodd Howard, the director of theFalloutvideo game series on behalf of Bethesda continues to dedicate his life to curating more content for fans every single day despite working for nearly three decades already. He revealed in aninterview the personhe looks up to when it comes to retiring.
