Many of the reviews pointed to the flaws of the film being its terrible screenplay and the lack of chemistry among the main leads. The plot sets up Johnson’s Madame Web trying to save different Spider-Women from the villain, Ezekiel Sims. A reviewer fromThe Hollywood Reporterwrote of the film,
“Madame Web doesn’t concern itself much with the kind of specific background that might lend its characters some depth. The film operates on a need-to-know basis, forcing people to explain themselves through inelegantly breathless exposition.”

While the review still mentioned that lead starDakota Johnson, who plays Cassandra Webb in the film, delivers a decent performance, she seemed to lack any energy. The writing and the dialogues too were criticized by many fans and critics.

Hilarious TikTok Review BashesMadame Web
While the reviews forMadame Webhave been dismal and have only been in the negative, social media was having a field day with the film. Much like the SSU’s previous entryMorbius, the Internet began making memes on the film since the trailer dropped, with Johnson’s dialogues being the subject of ridicule.

In the TikTok uploaded byAshley K Smalls, the user slams the film for wasting $20 of ticket money for being terrible. She mentioned that she went to the film with her nephew as he wanted to watch the film, but they both hated it. In her video, Smalls said,

“I live in New York, where it costs almost $20 to see a film. I could use the $20 in my pocket to wipe the wine off the table I just spilled from trying to drink the memory of this film away. And it would be a better use of that $20 than using it to see this movie.”
