What Did Robert’s Rebellion Hintedll In Game of Thrones?
George R.R. Martin’sA Song of Ice and Fireseries has lent itself to numerous possibilities and the world he has created can be expanded with each coming show. Many of these events have been hinted at in the flagship seriesGame of Thrones, with the primary one being its immediate predecessor, ‘Robert’s Rebellion’.
The flagship show began with the aftermath of Robert Baratheon’s rebellion against the ‘Mad King’ Aerys Targaryen and ended the rule of the Targaryens in the Seven Kingdoms. A war that was said to have started by Aerys’ son Rhaegar eloping with Baratheon’s betrothed Lyanna Stark, the war resulted in the death of the Mad King and the exile of Daenerys.

The war was declared by Baratheon’s trusted friend and future Hand of the King, Jon Arryn, after Rhaegar and the Mad King executed Lyanna’s father and brother. Lasting years, the battle ended with Aerys’ Kingsguard Jamie Lannister stabbing and killing the king, enabling his father Tywin to take over Dragonstone.
Robert’s Rebellion precedes the events ofGame of Thronesand Robert Baratheon himself refers to the events to Ned Stark multiple times. The first season is filled with the aftermath of one of the bloodiest wars in the history of Westeros and hence, has been expected by fans.
