Blake Lively has ended modern feminism by being a modern feminist.
Her thesis?
Modern feminism is [pardon] an army of spoiled brats who’ve never dealt with anything in their lives.
Owens took to the screen, pulling out an oldinterviewwhere Lively got into a back-and-forth about period-piece costumes. Well, according to Owens Lively’s response:
That is your brain on feminism. Any time you do something that has been done in the past, I want to discuss the costume design!
On August 10, a chat with Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa caught fire after it aired. Flaa, interviewing Lively and actor Parker Posey for their filmCafé Society, opened with a well-intentioned congratulatory remark, calling attention to Lively’s pregnancy.

She problematizes everything in her life, and so to see this backlash against Blake Lively— I don’t have an issue with her personally. I think it’s great that she and Ryan Reynolds put their family first in a lot of ways, and she seems like she’s a great mother and a great wife.
Owens believes that the backlash Lively is receiving will cause many to question whether feminism has strayed too far from its original purpose.
But I’m grateful that she’s going through this because it’s making a lot of people question what, in fact, modern feminism has become. And this is it: it’s whiny, it’s bratty, and it needs to end. So to that, I say thank you to Blake Lively.
In the whirlwind of all this public commentary, Owens also offered a curious twist—thanking Blake Lively. Why? Because the former feels that Lively’s involvement in this controversy is forcing people to take a step back and reflect on what modern feminism has become.
