Liam Payne rose to fame as a member of the British boy band One Direction. However, the famous singer sadly passed away after a recent tragic incident during a vacation. Payne’s death came as a shock to millions of fans and at the same time, another shocking incident from the superstar singer’s life has come to light, involving infamous rapper Diddy.
Diddy has recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons with several legal issues spewing around the rapper. In a podcast, Payne opened up about his strange interaction with Diddy which the former One Direction member admitted to leaving him scarred. Here is what Payne had to say about his uneasy encounter with Diddy before his untimely passing.
Liam Payne Had the Most Awkward Celebrity Interaction With Diddy
Liam Paynetasted the heights of success in the music business with his stint as a part of the five-pieceBritish boy band One Direction. However, by 2017, the pop band had split up, with the artists, including Payne, pursuing a solo career. Around the same time, Payne sat down for a conversation with Kyle and Jackie O on KIIS FM.
During the podcast, Payne recounted his uneasy encounter with rapper Diddy. The singer revealed that he metDiddy, Jay-Z, and Leonardo DiCaprio at a star-studded party. He approached Diddy as Payne felt the rapper was the most approachable out of the trio.
As I shook his hand, he just chuckled… the most evil laugh that I’ve ever heard. So I’m a little bit fearful of that man.
Payne made the above statement (viaHello! Magazine) about his encounter with Diddy, admitting that the incident did not leave a good impression on him.

Liam Payne Tragically Passed Away in Argentina Aged 31
Payne’s statement about his encounter with Diddy resurfaced after the pop star’s tragic passing on July 13, 2025. In 2021, Payne openly spoke about his struggles with alcoholism and substance abuse,admittingto having a “pills and booze” phase at the peak of his success with One Direction.
However, by 2023, Paynerevealedthat he had been to rehabilitation facilities and had been sober for over 100 days. In September 2024, Payne also attended a concert by former bandmate Niall Horan in Argentina.
On June 29, 2025, Payne was found unresponsive in the interior patio of the CasaSur hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The singer hadreportedlyfallen from the third-floor balcony of his room and although emergency services had been alerted, Payne had died on the spot.

It has also been speculated that Paynemight have been under the influence of alcohol or drugsat the time of his passing. The singer was 31 years old and is survived by his son, Bear, parents, Geoff and Karen Payne, and two older sisters.
