Xolo Maridueña’s time in the DC Universe was tainted from the very beginning. Coming in at a time of superhero fatigue where no project was getting any attention, it was not surprising whenBlue Beetledid not work out. However, no one expected just how badly the movie would end up failing. Being regarded as one of the worst-performing films in the history of the franchise, even though it was fundamentally praised, it is safe to say that the film had an unfortunate run.

Despite this, it seems that DC is not ready to give up on the character just yet, and neither is Maridueña. During a recent interview, the actor talked about an animated show for the character that is currently in the works and what fans can expect from it.

In the years since then, the animated space in Hollywood has changed drastically. The medium, as a whole, has become so much more expressive, and the creators can pretty much tell any story they want. Maridueña seemed to understand this fact very well and was even excited about what could be done with the show.
I’m really excited about it. I hope everyone comes back for it.
