In an interview withComicBook.com, the actor revealed his longstanding passion for Marvel and his desire to be a part of the franchise.
“I grew up reading Marvel comics obsessively and they saved me. I think, for a lot of young people, you emulate superheroes, you wish you had those powers, you wish you were somehow able to save people,–I’m an empath so that felt good to me. I loved every aspect of it. When the MCU happened, the satisfaction in seeing the actual costumes and seeing what they could do and do it accurately and authentically, it was exactly my dream come true. When you read those comics, it’s hard not to imagine them as films, and they did it. They did it really, really well. It was emotional, for me.”

He was thrilled to see the movies do justice to his beloved superheroes. It had long been a dream of his to see those characters come to life, and when he finally witnessed it happening, and that too on such a grand scale, he instantly became a fan.

Now, with the MCU bigger than ever, churning out blockbusters one after another, it continues on its path to provide fans with what they love. For Krumholtz, above all, he feels deeply emotionally attached to that entire world.
Why David Krumholtz Wants to Play The Thing in MCU?
When David Krumholtz spotted an opportunity for himself inThe Fantastic Fourreboot, he initiated an online campaign expressing his desire to become the next The Thing. The actor later disclosed that this online campaign ultimately led to a meeting with the director, as he revealed toEntertainment Weekly,
“It’s been a big, sort of unabashedly craven goal of mine to be part of the MCU in some way. I met [director] Matt Shakman for Ben Grimm,”

During the same conversation with ComicBook.com, he thus also elaborated on why he believed he would be the perfect fit for The Thing, providing further insight, he said,
“I still very much want to be part of the MCU at some point. I have no qualms about … It’s not cool to say that right now. I don’t care. To me, it’s the coolest thing. The Thing just felt like a good fit, to some extent. I think Ebon Moss-Bachrach is gonna do an amazing job with that.”

He further continued,
“A lot of it is motion-capture and voice stuff so I really wanted to try that and I’ve never done that before, so that was something that intrigued me big time. Just to be part of the team, I’ve always loved that character, but you never know. Something will come up, or not, I’ll end up playing Ghost Rider’s orthodontist.”
Now that the role has been given to Ebon Moss-Bachrach, he has hissights set on Mole Man. Despite feeling like The Thing would be a perfect fit for him, he’s also open to any role the MCU offers him. As long as his name is linked with the MCU, he’s all in. Being a massive comic book reader, he just wants to live out his dreams!
