Every superhero has a key antagonist that serves as an antithesis to what the hero stands for as a character. For Batman, it’s the Joker. For Superman, it is Lex Luthor. For Spider-Man, it’s Green Goblin. For Wolverine, it is Sabretooth.

Wolverine will be making his debut in the MCU, played by Hugh Jackman, the only actor to have essayed the role in live-action cinema. Jackman had previously announced that he would be leaving the character behind. However, Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool himself, was able to pull the actor back in for one more outing with the character. However, Jackman himself has said that it is becoming too much of a hassle for him to maintain his body for the role of Wolverine.
Wolverine could fall to Sabretooth for Hugh Jackman’s exit
Hugh Jackman was confident that his last outing as Wolverine wasLogan. Yet, here we stand with another iteration of the character being played by him. Needless to say, given the physical limitations that the actor has mentioned, it won’t be long before he hangs up his claws for the final time.
That exit ought to be something that is fitting for the character, and not a rehash ofLogan. Thankfully, Marvel has releasedWolverine#41, which marks the beginning of the Sabretooth War. Here, we find Sabertooth going after Wolverine’s family, starting a war between the two feral fighters that is bound to be as bloody as fans have come to expect from a Wolverine fight.

The epic clash could be the swan song that Logan needs, something that could replicate the gritty and natural feel of Logan, that could finally be a fitting end for Hugh Jackman’s run as Wolverine.

The Sabretooth Wars could bring back a fan-favourite actor into the MCU
Liev Schreiber played Sabertooth inX-Men Origins: Wolverine, where the character was received as the best representation of Sabretooth on screen. The film was critically panned, but the actor’s performance, along with Jackman’s own, was well received.
The characters were played as brothers, adding a layer of drama to the story that was told. While the plot of the film fell flat, fans would like to Schreber in the role again, making it a Sabertooth War adaptation the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

What needs to be kept in mind is that this would strictly have to be an R-rated film. The film will also have to introduce Logan’s extended family, and everyone that Logan cares about for it to make sense in the MCU. Given that Jackman might not have much time to do multiple outings with the character, Marvel will need to introduce the world around Wolverine fast and give it enough time to breathe so that fans care about it when it is torn apart by Sabertooth.
