After multiple delays,Studio Wildcardfinally released ‘The Center’ yesterday, a free DLC expansion for Ark: Survival Ascended. Unfortunately, the DLC is receiving mixed reviews from players, mainly due to the poor performance of the expansion on PC.
The Center, which includes a massive new map for players to explore, was originally set to launch on February 28th. However, just days before the expansion was due to be released, Studio Wildcard announced that it would be delaying the DLC indefinitely. “We’ve made the decision to postpone The Center as it wasn’t on track to launch with the level of quality we require,” the studio announced earlier this year.

Rectifying Cyberpunk 2077’s Disastrous Launch Was CD Projekt Red’s Biggest Achievement, Says Dev
Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer believes the game’s redemption arc makes it worthy of the studio’s biggest achievement.
The new map would thenreceive yet another delay earlier this month, but, thankfully, only by one day.

Now, despite being delayed multiple times to improve the free DLC’s overall quality, it appears as though The Center could have done with another delay, as fans are bashing the map’s performance on PC.
Ark: Survival Ascended’s The Center DLC Is Receiving Mixed Reviews
Over on Steam, The Center currently has over 100 reviews with a “mixed” score. While most appear to be negative, even some of the positive ones aren’t exactly positive.
“Another let down from [Studio] Wildcard,“one reviewer said, as they complained about the game randomly quitting on them.Another said, “Optimize this please, dear god how was it released like this.”

Aside from the apparent performance issues, other players also took issue with the new Pyromane creature that was released alongside The Center. However, unlike The Center, players will need to fork out $5 to get their hands on this new creature.
“I bought and instantly refunded this,” areviewer of the Pyromane said. They went on to say, “Please don’t buy this. This DLC is quite literally a copy and pasted dressed up version of the “Shadowmane” creature from their old game ARK: Survival Evolved.”
