Archetypes are the heart and soul ofMetaphor: ReFantazio’sturn-based combat gameplay. Besides granting new battle skills, unlocking a new Archetype also introduces a new Follower who brings their own perks.
While some archetypes are automatically unlocked as you progress through the main story, others are optional and require you to venture off the beaten path, like the Merchant Archetype.

The Merchant Archetype quest is found in the capital Grand Trad, and it’ll likely be the first optional one you may unlock. However, you’ll need to sharpen your Wisdom before beginning the quest that teaches you the art of commerce.
In addition to developing one of your Virtues, you’ll also have to complete a side dungeon that can be challenging for those who tackle it with the wrong party composition, which won’t be your case.
Prerequisites For Unlocking The Merchant Archetype
TheMerchant Archetypeis unlocked after completing the hunt questA Bullish Embargo, acquired in Grand Trad by talking to the white-haired Brigitta, who may be called the Igniter Merchantess at the time. However, to start this quest,you’ll need at least two points in Wisdom, one of your Virtues.

How To Prepare for Belega Corridor
The ideal party composition for Belega Corridor includes Seeker, Warrior, and Knight Archetypes.You should avoid going in as a Mage or Healerbecause the Goborns will rage at the sight of a wand or staff, and that’s an extra hassle you don’t need.
The weaker enemies in Belega Corridor are around level 9, such as Goborns and Vicious Hundos. You can easily defeat them in the first turn with regular attacks as long as you stun them before battle, especially if you got the sword fromFire Dagon Maugna.
The Manhunter Goborn, Archer Goborn, and Hexer Goborn variations are stronger and require more caution, so it’s best to consistently engage them with a stun. Focus on killing those variations first, then deal with the common Goborns.

The deeper you venture into Belega, the more Goborns will join the fray, with four to five attacking at once. In these situations, your Warrior Archetype can use the Synthesis skill Round Slash when paired with a Knight to swiftly take down the entire group.
If you run out of MP, switch your protagonist to a Mage and keep stunning enemies on the map to recover it.

How To Prepare For The Grotesque Guptauros Fight
Guptauros can be extremely challenging if you face it with the wrong party composition. If you bought intel from the informant at the Hushed Honeybee Inn, he’ll mention that the monster goes berserk at the sight of a staff or a mace, which is why we’re avoiding Mages and Healers.
With this strategy, the fight becomes pretty straightforward. Guptauros hits hard, so the key is to hit harder. If you’re using a Seeker, you can cast Matarukaja on the party or Tarukaja on your main damage dealer, the Knight.
The Knight should use the Synthesis skill Jump Thrust alongside the Warrior every turn. This will reduce Guptauros' defense and grant you two extra half-turns. The Warrior should use Blizz, and the Seeker can heal as needed.

Eventually, Guptauros will announce that he’s “taking aim” and cast Charge, powering up for the next turn. This means you’d die soon if you hadn’t brought a Knight.
Damage it with a pierce attack to disrupt the buff, turning the boss' Charge into Reckless Charge and preventing its devastating AoE attack. Repeat the strategy until you defeat Guptauros.
Rewards For Defeating The Guptauros
After defeating Guptauros, you’ll earn a good amount of experience, money, and MAG, along with two items: a Knight’s Bracelet and a Falchion, a weapon for the Seeker.
The key item,Brute’s Horn, is more important than the spoils of your hard-won battle since it’s the requirement to complete the quest A Bullish Embargo. With the horn in hand, return to Grand Trad.
In Grand Trad, speak with Brigitta the next day, and you’ll automatically deliver the Brute’s Horn to her, completing the quest. The rewards for completing A Bullish Embargo are:
Finally, after a heart-to-heart with Brigitta, you’ll gain a new bond, reaching Rank 1 with her and unlocking the Merchant Archetype. Now, all that’s left is to amass riches and fling moneybags at your enemies' faces for almighty damage.
