Monster Hunter Wilds Review

Monster Hunter Wilds is an evolution for the series and the best Monster Hunter game to date.

While it doesn’t have too many deadly attacks in its arsenal, for anyone who may struggle against it, I’ve prepared an extensive guide entailing Lala Barina’s weaknesses and strategy to beat it inMonster Hunter Wilds, so you can easily reap its rewards.

Hunting the Lala Barina in monster hunter wilds

I’m fighting the Tempered variant of the Lala Barina in High-Rank for demonstration purposes, but the prep and fight strategy should remain somewhat the same regardless of the rank.

How To Prepare For Lala Barina

For the key prep, take a full meal to strengthen your defense and give your character extra buffs.

Unlike amonster such as the Rompopolo, with whom you may need to bring Antidotes, the Lala Barina instead inflicts paralysis attacks. And unfortunately, you’re able to’t really prevent them beforehand.

Those paralyzing attacks come from its flower-spewing attack, which I’ll mention on later in the guide. They knock you out a bit, and unless your Palico wakes you up, Lala Barina may follow that up with another attack to crush your health.

If you’re looking tocapture the monster instead, as I did for this hunt, make sure to bring some Tranq Bombs and aShock Trap.

Either the Rocksteady or Evasion Mantle are also nice to have,so you’re able to tank and evade any attack to help you focus on dishing out as much damage as possible.

Lala Barina’s Weaknesses

The Lala Barina is weak to the fire element,so weapons or ammo from ranged weapons that support this element will work nicely to subdue this creature.

Regarding the weapon type, anything that is quick to attack and helps you get I-frames or offset attacks is good here, such as the Hammer or the Longsword.

Lala Barina weaknesses in mh wilds

I personally used the Hammer for its in-your-face playstyle. Also, you can stagger this monster by constantly attacking it with blunt damage to the head, another benefit of the Hammer.

I also advise focusing on damaging and breaking its legs or clawsto create woundsfor more opportunities to knock it down and deal damage.

Striking the head and its flower petals when it’s in agitated formis also a great way to weaken it if you can avoid its dangerous stinging attacks from back there.

10 Best Monster Hunter Games, Ranked

There are plenty of Monster Hunter games to choose from, but these are the best of the best.

How To Beat The Lala Barina

As is the case with other monsters inWilds,I’ve detailed the major attacks of the Lala Barina below to be careful of,along with some other helpful notes to consider when fighting it.

How To Counter

Claw Pokes

An attack from the front where it will poke at you with its claws.

Dodge beneath it or to the side. It can also be offset by the Hammer’s upswing attack.

Claw Swipe

Another frontal attack where it’ll swipe its claw on the ground in front.

Dodge under it or to the back.

Lala Barina will hit you with one of its legs via the sidelines.

Dodge as usual, but don’t worry too much since it’s its weakest attack.

One of Lala Barina’s major moves when you’re behind it.

When it’s about to do a Stinger, pay attention to the animation and get out of the way.

Double Stinger

A variation of the previous move. In its agitated form, with the flower bud on the back, it will sting you twice.

Like before, you can read this move during its split-second chargeup.

Charging Pounce

A powerful attack where the Lala Barina will charge and lunge at you with a vicious strike.

Avoid staring directly at Lala Barina when it’s agitated. It can be offset via the Hammer’s upswing, but dodging to the side is advised.

Blossom Spread

The Lala Barina will sidestep and shower a bunch of its paralysing flowers in the vicinity.

The attack shows specific hitboxes in an open area, thus making it easy to avoid. If you’re fighting in tight spaces, just back away.

The recommended way to go about the fight as safely as possible is toaim to weaken the legs and get some hits on the head whenever it’s not in a frenzied state.

The claws don’t have knockback damage, so you can soak it if you can counteract by dealing considerable damage to them or the head. Otherwise, stay underneath Lala Barina to wound its legs or its back.

In its agitated form, the strongest attacks in its arsenal will obviously be the Stingers and the Pounceit’ll do from the front. Besides that, not many attacks will be a threat to your health as long as you stay vigilant.

The paralyzing flowers might not seem dangerous, but if they hit you, you’ll be slightly knocked out and forced to receive a free beating unless your Palico wakes you up with a push.
