However, if you are unfamiliar with how this effect works, it might be hard for you to utilize it correctly and to your advantage. We will explain Break Effect to you in the simplest terms possible, and how you can use it in battle.

What Is Break Effect?

The basic definition of Break Effect in Honkai Star Rail is as follows: Break Effect enhances the various Weakness Break effects. This includesthe amount of DMG dealt upon Weakness Break, the amount of DMG dealt by DoTs per turn, and how far enemy actions are delayed.

So, essentially, Break Effect will only be utilized after you break through an enemy’sToughness Meter, or the white bar shown above their HP Meter. Then, once you have broken through their defenses, depending on your character type, you’ll be able to deal additional damage and have the effects from each type buffed up. Here are all the Weakness Break effects for each type:

Essentially, most of the types willdeal additional DoT other than the Quantum, Imaginary, and Ice types. This will occur after you have already broken through the enemy’s Toughness Meter completely, initiating a Weakness Break. For example,if you have a higher Break Effect on an Ice type character, they will have their Ice DMG increased, and they will be able to Freeze the enemy for a longer period of time. You could delay an enemy’s actions for 1 turn, or you could delay it for even 3 turns or more if you have a higher Break Effect stat.

As another example, if you cause the Weakness Break on an enemy with aWind type character, you will now haveincreased Wind DMG and the enemy, during the whole time they are incapacitated, will have Wind DoT dealt to them until they recover from the break. This means that after each round, they will have Wind DMG dealt to them without you having to attack them directly.

How To Use Break Effect

To use the Break Effect to your advantage, you’ll want to ensure you are buffing characters with this stat who will benefit the most from it. For example, a Main DPS character later in the game won’t need this stat as much because you’ll want to ensure they are dealing maximum damage before the enemy’s Toughness Meter is even broken. This is becausesometimes you will be utilizing a Main DPS against an enemy who is not weak to their Type, but you’ll still want to ensure they are powerful even without this advantage.

The best characters to give a Break Effect buff to will be yourSupport or Sub-DPS characters, such as Astaor Pela. This is because Asta and even Pela caneasily cause Weakness Breaks in enemies, especially with Asta’s Skill which can hit multiple enemies at once. Then, once the enemy’s Toughness Meter is broken, Asta willreceive a buff to her Damage and can apply the Burn effect to deal Fire DoT.
