Honkai Star Railhas a lot to be aware of at all times; some players that take a break for a week can come back and have forgotten a portion of how to manage the game of its many subroutines. This can be avoided by just logging in and doing even 1 daily activity to keep the game’s resource management in check for when you have time to return later.

A lot of people steer clear of games like Honkai Star Rail due to the stigma of it being a money sink, but it actually is quite generous and a very fun and enjoyable system that players never need to invest money in — provided they are aware of how to optimize their playthrough.
10You Need To Play The Gacha
Honkai Star Rail is a gacha game, and that means it will have a lot of different collectibles — players will need to roll with a random chance generator to see which ones they get. The more stars something has, the more rare it is to get, and this added rarity usually comes with more desirable traits.
Don’t just burn through your resources, though; take the time to know what your goals are and what to invest in. Otherwise, you may find yourself deeply regretting spending without being fully informed. Different offers will occur in the store, and it might be worth saving up until one of those offers gives you a higher percentage chance to get what you are going for.

9The Game Throws You A Pity Party
In the event you are having a string of bad luck and not getting anything of a 5-star rarity, the game has a pity system in place. You will use Warps to get different character pulls from the game, and if you go through 89 of these pulls without getting a single 5-star character, then the 90th pull will be a guaranteed 5-star character.
This is referred to as a “Hard Pity.” The game is said to have a hidden Soft Pity mechanic that lets you get 5-star characters even sooner than Hard Pity, and this can vary from which source you are spending your resources on.

8Team Composition
You will always want to hit enemies with the element they are weak against; anything else will increase the likelihood of failure and slow down how long fights will last.
Do not sleep on the main character, also known as the Trailblazer, as they offer an incredible amount of value to any party. Just be sure youpick the one you will enjoy the most. You will want to outfit your combat roster with characters from all different elements to increase the likelihood of going into a fight with an advantage.

7Maximize Your Gains
Honkai Star Rail has a lot of different resources and currencies and a large plethora of activities and tasks to get them. It is worth going through the menu and getting a feel of all the different parts of it where you will be able to claim rewards.

One such example would be Achievements, which will record your progress of what you have done in the game and will give you rewards for completing them. Another aspect of the game worth noting down and revisiting is the Simulated Universe Index.
6Progress Your Trailblaze Level
If you are well versed in Genshin Impact, you will be familiar with the term ‘Adventure Rank.’ Well, in Honkai Star Rail, this goes by a new name: Trailblaze Level. Keep raising your Trailblaze level to receive a steady stream of rewards and gain access to more parts of the game.
You will progress this a lot just by playing out the various forms of quests offered by the game, including the main story, but you will also progress this bydoing your dailies. So, be sure to complete as many dailies as you can to push this progress as much as possible.

5Use Your Trailblaze Power
You will find many ways to spend your Trailblaze power, and they can be seen in your Survival Index. You will continue to recover this Trailblaze Power every couple of minutes. This value does cap, and you will not be gaining any more of it while it is at its maximum.
You don’t need to use all of it constantly, but keeping it from hitting its cap means you are gaining the most rewards you may from this resource. This is comparable to the Original Resin resource in Genshin Impact.

4Understanding Equilibrium
Equilibrium is, in effect, a form of global leveling limiter. It prevents players from running off to get higher gains too early. A higher Equilibrium means you will have a higher level cap for your characters, an increased level cap for your weapons, and can obtain relics of higher levels.

You will then get more resources and rewards from various sources. You can raise your Equilibrium by increasing your Trailblaze Level; think of it as having an overarching level-up system on top of another level-up system.
3Synthesize Your Salvage
You will be able to salvage your relics in the game, and this includes 5-star ones. The game will inform you that the salvage of a 5-star will be of high rarity and even highlights the text in yellow. With this salvage, you can go to the Synthesize menu, go to Relic Crafting, and make your own 5-star relics.
You can use Self Modeling Resins to affect the stats of these relics. You are required to be at least Trailblaze Level 40 before you will be allowed to synthesize 5-star relics.
2Respond To Messages
Throughout the game, you will see red notifications on a lot of things — this keeps you in the loop and aware of a lot of stuff going on. At specific points, you will receive messages from in-game characters. Responding to these can unlock features.
A good example of this is a message you will get from Pom-Pom when your Trailblaze Level is at 23 to unlock The Forgotten Hall. You will also get side quests and valuable resources by responding to certain messages.
1Focus On The Long Term
Honkai Star Rail may seem like it just throws rewards at you and that you don’t have to grind, but a lot of these are only one-time rewards. You will eventually hit a wall if you have already spent all of this across multiple characters. As stated earlier, be very mindful of your goals and save up everything towards what your end-game expectations are going to be.
If you log in each day, do your dailies, and only invest your resources in what you need; you have a great chance of never needing to spend any real-world money to get the entire experience from start to endgame. It also helps tomake use of fast travelingto minimize the time you spend running places.
