At least oneHogwarts Legacyplayer has encountered a glitch that has caused him to practically teleport a short distance away, similar to how the apparate spell works in the Harry Potter movies.

Asshared on Reddit, one player ran into a problem while trying to cast the Depulso spell, which is typically used as an attack spell, pushing the targeted enemy or object away from the caster. However, as the video shows, when Reddit user Mico424 attempts to cast it while standing in front of a cloth sack, the wizard himself is pushed forward with great force, although thankfully, with no damage taken.

The apparate spell, used throughout the Wizarding World’s lore across several media, is not available to Hogwarts Legacy players. The closest thing they get is the use of floo flames, although theintroduction of broomsearly on and flying beasts later makes traversing the game worldquite simple.

There is some contention in the fan community over how the Apparate spell is supposed to work. The original description pulled from the novels indicates that, upon casting it, a witch or wizard will disapparate from one location and instantly appear in another, accompanied by a loud cracking noise, completely skipping over the distance between the two spaces. However, the spell is also put to heavy use in the later Harry Potter movies, although it typically depicts characters taking the form of fast-moving white or black smoke (depending on whether they’re good guys or bad guys), and it has also been used to simulate broomless flight. While there’s no smoke associated with it, the rapid traversal in this video seems pretty similar to the speedy way magic users get around using Apparate in the movies.

Others who have viewed the video of the glitch have found humor in the absurdity. “I love how even your character seemed taken aback,” commented Reddit user eneguema_I, in reference to how the character just stands and looks around, wand at the ready, following the accidental quasi-teleportation. Another commenter, Pingonaut, stated “I think we know why Herodiana eventually vanished,” a reference toThe Hall of Herodiana subquest— a series of secret rooms inside Hogwarts Castle that requires you to use the Depulso Spell to push magic blocks around in order to traverse a broad gap between platforms.
