As you’re roaming the lands inHogwarts Legacy, you might come across familiar items you’ve seen or heard about before. While the game is set before the events in Harry Potter, there are still many references that relate to those events and characters.

Hogwarts Legacy: 10 Most Beautiful Locations

Hogwarts Legacy is full of beautiful locations, but these spots are truly magical!

If you look hard enough, you’ll notice that there are actually quite a lot of Easter Eggs hidden within this game that relate to either the Harry Potter books, movies, or a random reference altogether. Sometimes they’ll be hidden while other times they stand out like a sore thumb.

10Hagrid’s Hut With Hippogriff Grave

Possible Reference To Buckbeak

When you’re exploring the grounds, you’ll find Hagrid’s Hut past the southern entrance at Hogwarts. Surprisingly, it looks pretty much the same as when Hagrid lives in it, even though this is roughly 100 years before any of the Harry Potter events. You can even explore the inside of the hut as well.

Hagrid’s Hut comes in at number 10 because it is quite easy to find and an obvious Easter Egg put in the game. However, what made it even more special was the Hippogriff’s grave next to the hut. While it most likely represents Buckbeak, it’s unclear if the grave represents the near-death Buckbeak had in Prisoner Of Azkaban.

The Hogwarts Legacy character found Hagrid’s Hut along with a statue of a Hippogriff.

9Top Hat With Bunny Ears

Duel Easter Egg

In Professor Weasley’s office, you’ll find a top hat with rabbit ears on the top of it near the door. This is a reference to when Harry went to Diagon Alley in chapter four of Prisoner Of Azkaban. Harry sees a large white rabbit that morphed into a silk top hat, back into a rabbit, and then repeats it.

Though it’s not confirmed, this could be considered an obscure reference to the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland as it looks almost identical to his hat. However, this Easter Egg comes in at number 9 due to its obscurity to movie watchers, but probably an obvious Easter Egg to book readers.

The Hogwarts Legacy character found the book that Voldemort used to learn about horcruxes.

8Secrets Of The Darkest Art

Tom Riddle’s Start

The Secrets of the Darkest Art can be found in the restricted section of the library on a bookshelf in a hallway near the door where you will find a book you’ve been searching for. This is actually an important book that Tom Riddle will eventually get his hands on to learn about the Horcruxes.

Hogwarts Legacy: 20 Best Items For The Room Of Requirement

From the Hopping Pot to the Beast Feeder, here are the best items for the Room Of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy!

This book comes in at number 8 due to it being hidden in plain sight as well as not known about unless you’re probably a Harry Potter fanatic. However, this book was an important item in the Harry Potter series as it was the beginning of the end of Voldemort.

7Bathroom Stall Potion

Hermione’s Polyjuice Potion

Near Professor Fig’s Classroom, this potion will be inside the girl’s bathroom. This is a reference to when Hermione brewed the Polyjuice Potion, so the 3 friends could turn into Malfoy and his friends in The Chamber Of Secrets. However, it did fail her and she was temporarily turned into a cat.

This comes in at number 7 because it is very well-known and easy to find. This is an Easter Egg that isn’t a “by chance” easter egg and will most likely be where it should be the first time you go looking for it. However, due to how obvious of a reference it is, it did not gain a higher ranking.

The Hogwarts Legacy character found the Polyjuice Potion in the bathroom stall in the girl’s room.

6De-gnoming

A Weasley Book Reference

If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter books, you will recall Harry helping the Weasleys get rid of the gnomes in their garden. At your first Herbology class, you will meet Leander Prewett who is Molly Weasley’s ancestor. He will tell you about his memories of de-gnoming.

Unbeknownst to him, his ancestors will be de-gnoming their garden over a century later. This Easter Egg comes in at number 6 due to how obscure the reference is and the fact that only those who have read the books will get this reference. Unfortunately, this scene never made it to the movies.

5Arachnophobia Mode

The Riddikulus Spell

This game really went all out with references to please both the movie and book lovers. When you turn on the Arachnophobia Mode, the spiders will morph into a combination of the boggart spider Ron had to use the Riddikulus Spell on.

You’ll recall that in the book, the spider ended up legless, while in the movie, it was given rollerskates. To appease all fans, the creators combined these two and, with the Arachnophobia Mode on, the spiders have no legs and rollerskates. It comes in at number 5 because the only way you will see this Easter Egg is if you actively turn on this game mode.

4Following The Butterflies

A Tip Of The Hat To Ron Weasley

While playing, you will come across a quest at one of theshops in Hogsmeadethat will require you to follow butterflies to the edge of the Forbidden Forest, so you can find a treasure chest. The funny thing is, this is a reference to The Chamber Of Secrets. While there were no butterflies, there were spiders Harry and Ron had to follow.

Ron told Harry, “Spiders, why couldn’t it be follow the butterflies.” This is a funny Easter Egg utilizing Ron’s future statement to incorporate a funside quest. This ranks at number 4 due to most people not catching this quick reference and due to the hilarity in it.

3Student Throwing Up Slugs

Ron’s Broken Wand Reference

In The Chamber Of Secrets, Ron tries to make Malfoy eat slugs. However, since Ron’s wand is broken, the spell reverses back onto Ron, and he spends hours throwing up the slugs meant for Malfoy. This reference can be seen in the Hospital Wing with a random student holding a bucket and puking up slugs.

This reference comes in at number 3 because, while it is instantly recognizable, it is a rare occurrence considering you don’t really have a reason to go to the medical wing, and you’re not guaranteed to see this student if you do go to the medical wing.

2Safari Painting

Where The Fat Lady Hid

In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, there is a scene where the Fat Lady is missing from the painting leading up to the Gryffindor Tower. She is found hiding behind a hippo in a safari painting when her painting is ripped from Tom Riddle and the Basilisk.

This comes in at number 2 not because of how unrecognizable this painting is, as every Harry Potter fan should recognize it, but because of how likely it is you’ll find it. This Easter Egg is located in a secret room in Hogwarts behind a map located in the South Wing. However, you mustknow the Depulso spell.

1Severus Snape Music Box

Snape Secretly Popping Up

While you are completing a quest in theRoom of Requirementwith Professor Weasley, you will find hundreds upon hundreds of items that have been hidden by previous students for centuries. Just past a boar’s head, not far will be a table with a painting of a lady and a small music box. When the box plays, a figure that appears to be Severus Snape pops up.

This music box is said to only open once, so there’s a good chance you will miss this Easter Egg even if you find the box itself. Rightfully deserving the number one spot due to the obscurity as well as the chance to miss this possibly intentional tribute to the future Potions Professor, Severus Snape, and the late Alan Rickman.
