Henry Cavill may have embodied a lot of different heroes for the screens, but perhaps his best one to date in the eyes of fans worldwide will continue to be that of Clark Kent aka Superman in the DC Universe. If anything, his iteration and performance as the respective character is widely regarded as one of the best ones to date among all audiences.

That said, when it comes to the hate his said superhero receives, especially from all those die-hard Batman fans out there, Cavill isn’t one to just sit back and agree and enjoy the drama.

Even though the Blue Boy Scout is one of the most fan-beloved superheroes in the entirety of the DC Universe, he is also rather scrutinized by some fans of other heroes, like the Dark Knight. Turns out, of all the people who have brought the character of Clark Kent to life to date,Henry Cavill, for one, isn’t willing to put up with that criticism.
Rather, he seems to be more open to taking on criticism and explaining why it is wrong instead of just moving past it. In an interview withInterview magazine, he acknowledged the same, saying, “As much as everyone says that Superman is good, a lot of other people might say that that’s why they find him boring … A lot of Batman fans might say that.”

Then, he went on to explain just how his character still stands out from the rest.The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfarestar said,
But he’s not just good—he chooses to be good, which is what makes him interesting to me. I really looked at it like everything was a choice.
That said, it’s clear that while playing him, Cavill really looked at all aspects of the character.

While he emphasized thatthe Man of Steel made the conscious decisionto be good and wasn’t this way from the beginning which makes him a much more interesting character than deciphered by a lot of the fans of the Caped Crusader, Henry Cavill also shed light on how it may have been had Superman not chosen to be good to begin with.
During the same interview, he talked about the same, saying,
It also begs the question: What if he chose to not be good? Certainly, in all the Superman-Batman storylines, that’s a question that Batman always asks. In one of the books, Superman even says, “Hey, look, if I ever lose my mind, then these are the ways to stop me …” So it’s not just about Superman being good.

Needless to say, that does establish a different perspective on the respective character who has forever been deemed as the good guy by fans worldwide. Andthen there’s Cavill’sMan of Steel, which perfectly played along the same lines as it saw the character grappling with understanding his identity and learning to use it for others’ benefit instead of choosing to be the bad guy.
