Helldivers 2offers a variety of locations and set pieces that make for amazing artwork when viewed independently. Thankfully, consoles now allow players to take screenshots with a simple button press. This enables situational and accidental art pieces to be formed with ease.

The Automaton numbers are thinning out.

In the mindset of battle or just reaching your objective, there are always opportunities to snap a quick screenshot. Some are better than others, a scale that is determined by how cinematic the scene is. One picture snapped a couple of days ago might be one of the best to ever come from the game so far.

The image comes from Reddit user 0bsidianBlack, which they shared on the r/Helldivers subreddit. They say the person who took the photo dubbed it ‘The Last Automaton’. A very fitting name, going by the image.

We can see a lone figure, an Automaton, standing atop a dune with nothing and no one around it. As far as screenshots from games go, this one is right up there, given the context of the war right now.

The Battle is Won But the War is Far From Over

While the Automaton missions may not be accessible anymore, that does not mean the Super Earth conquest has been achieved.New threats are looming on the horizon, and it’s up to the Helldivers to deal with them accordingly. The Automatons may be out of the picture for now, but we may have the Illuminates making an appearance soon.

The presence of a new enemy faction will help keep things interesting for Helldivers fans. The game is incredibly popular even now, but no doubt some fans are wondering when a substantial update with new content will be added. After all, that’s one of the major draws of live-service titles.

It will be interesting to see how the developers introduce the Illuminates to the game, if they are coming at all. As the most advanced and intelligent foes in the Helldivers universe, they will pose a significant threat to Super Earth’s expansion plans. Luckily, we have several big guns and bigger stratagems to ensure our missions are successful.

Gaming was one of my earliest passions then along came writing, and here we are. I’ve been in the content creation space for several years now and as gamer for even longer. From understanding the complexities of a multilayer narrative to the simply joy of “big gun go boom”, my goal is to capture all the emotions in between and put them down in an engaging manner.
